Has anyone used Earplanes for their kids?

My husband and my older DD use them when we fly..both have bad ears that do not release pressure. Anyway they both think they work great...My hubby has to take sudafed and nose drops along with the earplanes and my DD has to have a small dose of benadryl (same thing really). They put them in before the door closes and take them out when we are at a steady altitude and put them back in when we are starting to go down..
Also if they feel that their ears are hurting while wearing them or feeling pressure you can twist them a bit or move them a tiny bit, sometimes that is enough to release some more pressure

My DS has hd 11 ear surgeries, including rebuilding his eardrums. His ENT does not want him to fly unless he wears the earplanes. He also recommends a decongestant 30-45 minutes before the flight. The ENT recommends everyone wear them, ear problems or not.

Hi - I have never tried these before but two of my kids hate how their ears hurt when flying so I thought I would try to find them before we leave Tuesday.

Do any of you have any experience with them? Would you know if CVS or Walgreens, etc. carry them? If not where can I get them?

Thanks so much for your replies!

I swear by them....I have skinny eustacion tubes (only thing skinny on me, :rotfl2:) anyhoo....talk about pain, try agony and after one trip where I needed an ER after landing and got a major infection from being all clogged up I learned the following...
a small dose of an antihistamine to open up the tubes, EARPLANES (gently pull on upper part of ear and turn/twist them in so that they are IN the ear a bit rather than just sitting there...and put them on just before boarding, with removal AFTER exiting. Now if a child is only mildly uncomfortable, perhaps you can take them off after take off :confused3 and then place on again during landing....for some reason landing is worse for me:confused3
They really are amazing....I buy a fresh pair for each leg of my journey....you do not generally need to tho( I think its like 2-3 wears??)
I get at pharmacy, even walmart or Walgreens. They really have been amazing for my issues!!!
And have those lollipops to suck on, or gum.........;)

I tried the earplanes for my older dd and they didn't do anything. I'm afraid I wasn't impressed.

We did find something that would work though. Two styrofoam cups...with a little bit of boiling water in the bottom, stuffed with paper towels (creates steam (paper towels soak up the water so it doesn't drip out (just make sure nothing drips out before you give to child)). Put over the ears..Instant relief. My DD used to scream bloody murder when we would land from the pain. When we first tried it, she actually turned to me with a smile on her face...It was like magic.

Unfortunately, I have run into Flight Attendants that won't do it (Liability I guess).
