i know US Airways is doing "discounted" awards for this month (i.e. it would be last minute trips), and i'm guessing other airlines might be doing this as well.

has anyone tried to book one of these awards?
can anyone share their experience?

15,000 miles for a domestic tix seems good.
but then again, Milepoint.com converts 1 US Airways mile = $0.02 so 15,000 miles = $300

i'm having trouble deciding if i should try for a random trip to WDW halloween. *sigh*

argh, just checked Milepoint, you can only use miles for 10% of most purchases. that means to use up my miles i'd need to spend $3000. never mind Milepoint.

I just used my miles to book a friend to los angelos. had no problem booking it.

I booked EWR to LAS about two weeks ago on US Airways. No problem at all. There were also seats on that route open on AA and CO.

The only thing I've found useful at Milepoint is the magazine subscriptions. I use miles from accts. on airlines I rarely fly and get 1 year magazine subscriptions for free.

what about all these cancellations and rescheduling that's going on?
how do you know if an award tix you book now won't be cancelled or you'll be put on some horrible connecting flight with a long layover?

*sigh* i just keep reading horror stories everywhere about people getting screwed over by the airlines' schedule changes. so... naturally am hesitant to jump into a potential mess. :(

but... then again, i wanted to go one more time to WDW so bad! argh... so confused.

I checked on Frequent flyer ticket over Thanksgiving and was amazed that I could get seats. Not the "discounted" mileage seats they have right now, but still seats. I thought that was pretty good.

I don't really worry about them cancelling flights when I am on frequent flyer tickets. I have had that happen to me and could not really tell much difference in the way I was treated. I have always just been moved to another flight or even another airline. The thing that seems to make the biggest difference in how I am treated regarding cancelled flights is my attitude. If I act mean, then I get what I deserve. If I am nice to the agent, I usually get a things fixed the best possible way.
