Has Anyone Tried the KYSS Bag?

I saw these bags online that will lock to keep your things safe in them. I was thinking of buying one for when we get off the ship in port and go to the beach. I don't usually leave my stuff unattended but I was wondering if anyone has used this and if you liked it. How did it work for you? Is it worth it? Here is a link: http://kyssbags.com/

I JUST bought one and it arrived this week, so I haven't had a chance to use it in "the real world" yet, but so far, I'm liking it. The chain is thin, but it doesn't look as chinsy as it appears on the website. Could some burly Hulk Hogan type bust it? Probably if they were determined enough but it seems solid enough to serve its purpose. I wish the lock worked a bit smoother, but it worked well enough that my elementary school aged kids could figure it out once I gave them the combination. You have to realize that it's it's merely a theft deterrent, not theft prevention. Any determined thief will be able to get into it. Is it worth it? Me personally, I think so. It does give me a little bit more of peace of mind. It sure beats just having my bag laying out with my wallet and keys and what not, and piles of towels and such as a deterrent. ;)

We use pacsafe bags and have first hand experience with their security. Someone attempted to slash and run my daughter's bag in Pisa and the look of shock on their face when the strap didn't cut was priceless.

When I compared the reviews of the two brands before purchasing our first bags, Pacsafe seemed to get better reviews for security, but that was a few yeas ago. Just making a suggestion for another brand to look at.

I was looking at these Pacsafe bags and prefer them appearance-wise over the Kyss, but I couldn't tell online whether they both lock the contents in the bag AND allow you to lock the bag to a stationary item such as a tree, beach chair, etc. Does anyone know?

I bought a KYSS bag before my Disney cruise for Easter. My daughter has a very expensive camera but we wanted to swim on CC. We chained it to the umbrella pole and never had an issue. I am sailing again for Halloween and I will be using to again.:thumbsup2

I just got my Kyss bag a couple of weeks ago and have used it at the public pool twice so far (my cruise is not until August). I like it, but the quality was much lower than I expected for the price of the bag. I was a little disappointed that the lining is cheap nylon rather than some type of sturdier fabric. The bag arrived very quickly even though I had it monogrammed but totally smelled like cigarette smoke when I got it - my guess is that somebody was either smoking when they embroidered it or somebody is smoking in the location where they're stored. I aired it out outside and sprayed it Febreze and it's fine, but it did bother me at first; we don't smoke and smoke smell really bothers me. And this is my own fault, but I didn't realize that the purple bag has a hot pink lining - my DH is not thrilled with that at all! But the peace of mind was good - we chained it to the fence at the pool and I didn't have to worry about somebody walking off with it.

Overall, I think if I need another bag like this I'll just make one - DH said he could take one of my bags and add the chain and grommet in just a few minutes.

My KYSS bag arrived today. Our cruise isn't until November but I plan to take it to the local wave pools this summer and try it out.

I have the large raspberry KYSS bag. It's already been on several cruises and to Hawaii and various other trips. If it's not stuffed full, it fits under the seat on an airplane. If stuffed full, it holds a lot! I really like it and am glad that I got it.

thought i would let you know that before i ordered my kyss bag, which i am in love with, i sent the company an email asking about a discount code. theres a place on order site to apply this. they did send me back a code for a $5 discount. if you want it p.m. me and i will send it to you.

I have used my Kyss bag on cruises and beach excursions. I like it and it serves our purpose well, for a bit of added security for cameras and small amounts of cash while we are in the water. It's also a great shopping bag.
I have had my smaller Pacsafe shoulder bag for three years. I have used it while touring the Med, the Baltics, Mexico and others. I'd say the Pacsafe is more secure, but I ordered a smaller size as a handbag alternative, not a beach/shopping bag.
I think, dollar for dollar, they are both a good value. It just depends what you are looking for in functionality.

I've seriously looked into PacSafe bags, and doing some research on them, I think I have more questions than I have answers. To those who have them please help me out. I was looking at their backpacks in particular, because I'm looking for something versatile and gender neutral enough for DH, so specifically, the VentureSafe series. It seems their main protection is against snatch and go, which would be GREAT if you plan on being close to the bag most of the time, not so great if you plan on being away, and giving people opportunities to undo the locks. For example, on the backpack, the zipper locks seems like just a clip tucked away. The clips don't lock. Same with the straps. You can "lock" it but unlocking it is quite easy with a twist of the lock. No combination necessary. So while that would be great at stopping a snatch and go, not so great while you're out snorkeling as it would only take a few seconds for someone to sit down at the beach chair you have the bag hooked to, untwist your lock and walk off with the entire bag. Please correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm hoping I am wrong on all of this because I really want that bag and want it to work out, but if won't lock the zippers and strap to where I can leave it unattended, then it won't serve my needs on the cruise or poolside. :(

I was really hoping that there were some available in a store near me that I could check out in person but after calling every single dealer listed on their website in my area, none of them have it. :(

Yes, exactly what I think is the case based on my online research....don't see where the bag locks the contents in or locks it to an object. Seems like they are more meant to prevent pick pocketing and slash-and-grab. Can someone confirm? Thanks?

Luckily, after a bit more research, I was able to find a small selection of PacSafe bags at a local baggage company and was able to check it out. They didn't have the VentureSafe series I was looking at, but they did have a smaller, women's backpack with the same zipper and strap locking system as the VentureSafe so I was able to tinker with it in person and speak with a sales person about it. My speculations were proven correct. The zippers do not securely lock by default, and the strap lock is easily unhooked. However, both can be remedied with additional padlocks, so you'll have to drop the extra $$ on buying padlocks to lock them. With that said, even though padlocked, I think a determined thief with a simple cutting tool can still circumvent it fairly easily. Between PacSafe and Kyss bag, as pp said, both have their uses and pros. It's really a matter of evaluating which would serve your purpose more. Both are similar yet very different products. I think if your travels includes more shady areas/destinations, then the PacSafe would be a better choice. But that's just my opinion and observances. :)

I have the large Navy one with the our last name initialed on it in black. We originally bought it for our 6 nt. Western this past February. We used it in Mexico and Grand Cayman. We loved being able to to lock up our KTTW cards, phones and camera without worry. I had another beach bag that held clothes and towels and just looped the chain thru the handle of the second bag so it would not walk off either. We have been really pleased. As a pp mentioned I think I found a discount code online as well...either $5 off or free shipping or both...I can't remember.

Looking forward to using it on my Oct. cruise too!

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

I just ordered a large Kyss bag for our November Cruise. I figure it can hold cruise docs at the port, and wallets, passports, camera, water when getting off the ship at ports-of-call.
