Has anyone traded points?

Has anyone traded points with another DVC member so you can book at there home resort? Can you do this? Just curious on everyones thoughts. Thanks.

We tried but it it fell through. We wanted to trade our BW points to a fellow DVCer for her Vero points. However, we were told that a member can only transfer out points once per year. We were also told some real confusing info from Member services regarding whether the traded points would retain their home resort's 11 month preference (which was the only reason we were even doing the trade). I have received conflicting info from different MS people on that issue. However, instead of trying to work it out, the other member and I just agreed to make reservations for one another. We wanted a Beach Cottage and she made the reservation at the 11 month window for me. There was a small difference on the number of points and she made up the difference at a rate of $10 per point. We will be traveling with family in May. We wanted to make one reservation at the BCV using points from both families. BCV is our home resort but not theirs. My SIL transfered her points to me and I was able to make the reservation 11 months in advance using both points. Once the points were transfered to me they retained their use year but became BCV points. I was told by MS that you only have one resort and no matter where the points come from they become your home resort once they are in your account. I do not know if this is 100% accurate, just what I was told.

I traded my BWV points to someone with HHI points. We were both looking to make the reservation before the 7 month window opened. It worked out very well. I just posted what I had and what I needed on the rent trade board and sure enough, it worked out.

Had an arrangement to trade points but circumstances altered the other parties plans but the original agreement for for me to make the ressie for them and then they would make a ressie for me at their home resort. Think that would have worked out well.

I am glad to hear about how you all are making ressies for other people. I hope to do this in 2004. I own at BCV and am hoping to get into a GV at OKW. You give me hope that someone out there will want to trade ressies with me.
