Has anyone taken their kids on a ride and regretted it?

Took DS and DD in 2005 never been there and they rodde everything but space mountain and RNrC but only cause of time issues. Even on TOT they were fine but i think we will skip mission space this year cause they didnt ride that one either and im worried about puking. The only one i regret is buzz lightyear cause DS scored more points then me.......

We had a rather unexpected result when we took DS 5 and DD 8 on POC and DS never recovered from the Dead men tell no talse and the "windy part" at the begining. He would not even attempt to enjoy the ride after that. And this
is from a child who thinks Jurasic park both the ride and movies are funny.
Later in the day both stated that they did not like HM because the first section when on the doom buggy was too scary. We were back in the MK 3 more times on our 2 week trip and I couldn't get either on two of my favorite rides again :confused3 . I only hope that things change this comming trip.

I took my DS on Alien Encounter back in 2001, he was 7 at the time, and the attraction was very scary and he was crying & because of the restraints - there was nothing I could do to comfort him. :guilty:

But now that he's 12, and Alien Encounter is no more :sad2: , he is thrilled to be able to day that he did it!! :sunny:

Its Tough to be a Bug freaked out my nephew. He was around 9 at the time, and as soon as the doors closed and the lights dimmed, he was done. I remember he sat on his dad's lap the whole time, crying. :guilty: Now this is the same child who at age 4 rode Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Carribean. :confused3 Go figure.

The worst mistake we made was Dinosaur. Thought DS4 would like it---he was terrified--I felt sooooo bad. :guilty:

Oh, I forgot. DD7 cried in Honey, I shrunk the Kids. We had to take her out --there's a snake that tries to get the audience. She HATED it.

We took our DD on Dinosaur (back when it was called Countdown to Extinction) when she was about 7. She was soooooo terrified! She cried and cried. I felt so bad. :guilty: To this day, ( and now she's 14 ) she refuses to go on that ride.

I think that we've all taken our kids on rides that they "didn't like". Some, the kids will brave another time, some they won't go on again.

In our house my youngest still doesn't like Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Sorry, but since both mom and dad are going on, you will be going on, too. You can close your eyes at the snake and lift your feet at the mice, but we are going on....once. When she was little, she did that, with my help. Now that she is 12, she can do it on her own. ;)

TOT, she went on when she was 5. I got her the "I survived ToT" t-shirt to prove to her friends that she did it. We continue to ride (she didn't for a year or two, which was okay since her Dad doesn't do that one). She loves that one, now, however once we both got spooked by being in the front of the car. :confused3 (We asked for 2nd/3rd row seats for a few times after that).

Fantasmic is terrific! Haunted Mansion, I have a niece who hides in her mom's chest when the bride's heart starts beating. A nephew who would only attack Space Mountain to get the VMK reward. :rotfl:

Bottom line. Don't be afraid to try. Be ready to support you kiddos if they do get scared, and remind them: Isn't this terrific! And it is all make believe! Walt would never do anything that would hurt us! :wizard:

Have a great time!

Well, being that I don't have kids, I haven't made them ride anything yet... :) DH, DSis and I were in Disneyland last week, and were in line for Space Mountain behind a Mom with her twin 4 year olds. One was very excited to try it, one was scared. When we got to the front of the line, the mom realized she would only be able to ride with one of them. My sister said she'd go with the other, right behind her. The poor girl screamed the entire ride, and was terrified, especially without her mother. My sister still has bruises on her arm from the girl holding on to her.

We took our 2 yr old to Philharmagic in MK. She hated it and we left before it really started. Too loud and scary. We went in on Motherinlaws recommendation.

It is easy to leave though. We didn't cause too much fuss.

The same thing happened to us twice..she was 2 and 2 1/2....Regardless of how cute this show is, it is INCREDIBLY loud and DD just couldn't deal with it. The second time we took her, we had actually forgotten that she didn't like it(and she seemed much more timid this time around).

I really think it depends on the kids. I know there are some kids who LOVE ToT at the age of 6, yet my DD is 12 and is terrified of it. I know if she rode it she'd probably cry the whole time.
You sort of need to guage these things according to your child's personality...and the younger the child the harder it may be to figure out. My 2yo. loved riding Winnie the Pooh in October, but just a month ago, it was dark enough that it scared her to death. I'm sure that soon enough she'll be back to loving it.

Our first trip to WDW was in 2000, when my DS was 8, and my DD 6. The first ride we did on the first day was Test Track - I couldn't believe that it scared them both. It made it a little harder to get them to try other rides, but eventually they did get adventurous enough to enjoy all but the biggest coasters. Suprisingly to me, the biggest hit of the trip was Kali River Rapids. We are going again in May (first time since 2000), and will have to see how they do with some of the rides they wouldn't ride last time.

Believe it or not, DS got sick after the old Horizons and threw up in the Monorail (he said it was motion sickness from Horizons). This is the same kid who loved Space Mountain, BTMRR, actually I can't think of any other ride that bothered him.
My other DS freaked out in Catastrophe Canyon on the Backstage Tour. Yet he also loved Space Mountain, BTMRR, and everything else he went on. Oh-except Splash Mountain-not because of the drop, but it really upset him that his pants got wet. I think he was afraid people would think he wet his pants.

We took our son when he was 3 months old on Energy. He was fine until the show started and then he screamed very loudly the whole time. It was horrible. The seats were moving and we couldn't get off!!!

In 2004 first park we visited was Animal Kingdom. Went to see It's Tough to be a Bug in the Tree of Life. DS was 4 at the time, and he was so terrified

Ditto here! DD(also 4 at the time) first time at AK was ruined b/c we did this first thing. She screamed and buried her head in my lap through the whole thing. I was ready for the worst mother of the year award upon completion of the movie. Here I thought it would be this cute 3D movie! We had to leave the park for her to calm down.

Last yr, at the age of 6, she wanted to try Dinosaur, also a big mistake. She also did the Tower of Terror, which freaked her out but she says she wants to do it again this year!
