I have been hearing so many mixed reviews about the pop and am getting a little nervous. We are going on the 23rd of August. I know that this is going to be a pretty busy time of year because of the free dining but am sure that there will be a room available at one of the moderates. If the pop is that bad, I will switch even though I hate to spend the extra money.
Has anyone else switched because it was so bad?

Just got back from Pop two days ago. I asked my dd, almost 12 now, to list her favorite resorts in order.....BWV, CR, POR, Pop, ASMU, BCV, Polynesian. I have no problems at all with Pop...we enjoyed it tremendously. The food court was good..we ate a lot of meals there. The pools were fun. No slides but for the difference in price I can live with that. I guess it all depends on what you like. My listing of favs would be just about the same as dd's. Any more specific issues, ask me.

Good Morning Christine!

I am a big fan of the POR/POFQ resorts. LOVE THEM!!! If it had ever been to me I would never have stayed anywhere else on property. Not even if you had given me a free room on the concierge level of one of the Deluxes. With that being said........Last fall we were planning our trip to WDW, at POR again. But after our 4 yr. old saw pictures of POP (specifically Lady and the Tramp) she asked if we could stay there next trip. After much discussion, we decided to split our reservation and stay the first few nights at POP. I, like you, had heard a lot about noisy plumbing, noisey neighbors, slow busses, yada, yada, yada..... So going into that vacation I wasn't expecting to like POP, just merely biding my time until moving to POR. So.....imagine how surprised I was to enjoy my stay at POP. Yes, I admit it I loved POP Century. Now it is nothing like POR/POFQ, at all. But we loved the Kitschy(sp?) feel of the place. It was as fun, as POR is tranquil. We had none of the issues that everyone complains about. Well, maybe we did hear a few toilet flushing, but it certainly didn't bother us, or keep us from sleeping. It is a cool resort, but it is certainly no deluxe. I think to enjoy POP, you have to see the humor in the resort. My parents (50's) loved it too.

I say stay at POP, save your money to spend on other fun stuff, and just enjoy being at WDW. Go with a great attitude and a sense of humor, and you will enoy yourself.

thanks guys!! I am keeping a positive attitude and am looking forward to our trip in 10 days. Worse comes to worse is we move.

In May I was going to stay at POP for my solo trip. The more I looked at those icons the more nervous I became. I round up staying at POP for Fri-Sat, then rented DVC points for BWV Sun-Thurs, then transferred back to POP for Fri-Sat again. I was pleasantly surprised at POP. I really enjoyed it and was shocked that I had absolutely no hesitation returning to POP after my five nights at BWV. POP is just a happy cute place. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I had a corner room in the 50's, third floor (lady's building) right next to the stairwell and only 2-3 minutes from Classic Hall. Because people with kids went on down to use the elevator (skipping the stairs) I never heard a soul outside my door. Because it was a corner room I had no one on my right side and the lady in the room to my left was also a solo traveler. It was so quiet, but I was closer to Classic Hall than most people in the 60's preferred building. I never heard toilets flushing and the bus system was great.

I'm taking my son and D-I-L to WDW in Sept and had planned to stay at POFQ, but after hearing me talk about POP and seeing my pictures they decided they would rather stay at POP. It had nothing to do with money, but just the atmosphere they preferred. Saying that, I'll be taking my mom for her first trip to WDW in Dec and booked us doing a split stay at POFQ and CSR. I know she would prefer the atmosphere at those two resorts over POP.
