Has anyone ever called and been able to use someone else's postcard/pin - my sister rec'd a postcard today and will not be using it.

Thanks.

My AAA stated that they are tied to everyones name address but that regular discounts will be out before the end of the month!

The postcard PIN number is associated with one person's name only. CRO/Travel has to look up the information before booking the code and verify the PIN belongs to the person booking. Because of this the person that the PIN belongs to must be staying on the reservation.

Apparently, Disney takes the Pin # very seriously. When I called and gave the CM my pin#, she started asking me questions that were all mixed up.
Like, "Your husband's name is Mike?". I told her she had it wrong, that is my son. She asks "So, I see you have been to WDW 2x?". Nope, wrong again, more than a dozen times. I suggested Disney needed to compile all their info better.
She apologized and told me that she was verifying that it was me using the pin# because they have had problems with others using codes that were not sent to them. She also said not to get upset when we check-in because they may ask me all the "wrong info" again.
I thought, it's only a discount not some top secret spy mission. But then I figured that if I was throwing millions of dollars into advertising every year, I would want to know what targets I was hitting.
Did anyone else get asked this "wrong" info?

Believe it or not, I happened to call and book the night before my postcard came. The CM knew it was on it's way to me, and gave me the discount BECAUSE I knew all the info on my account. He asked me my kids names and birthdates, stuff like that. He said as long as he can verify that it's really me, then it's mine. As it was, the email arrived the next day with the PIN, so I'm OK, but I thought it was interesting that they really are only interested in hitting their target marketing audience, it doesn't seem to be about the discount itself!

What about when a child gets a postcard? We were taking my nephew with us this past May, so he name was included in our reservation. Well, a couple of weeks before we left for our trip, we got a postcard at my house, addressed to him, an 8 year old, for a discount rate. We had a 2 bedroom suite so it wasn't discountable anyway, but if we had gone back with a regular room, could we have gotten this rate? Obviously this 8 year old couldn't have used the rate himself, and they know his age since they ask when you book, so why did they send this?

The pin may actually be tied to the address, not so much the name.
I got a post card last year at my address but with my previous married name. It was weird because I have not lived at this address when I had my former name. Any way I called and explained that the name was wrong, and I had no problem, the CM confirmed the address and I got my reservation set up with the discount.
I took the post card with me, but they did not ask for it when I checked in.

The EXACT same thing happened to me. Postcard with previous name at current address. When I made my ressies I explained everything to the CM and she changed my name as well. DH got a good chuckle out of it, but didn't complain when I told him how much $$$ I saved by switching resorts and using the postcard! I also got an email this round.
