Hi,

I see info on the kennels and more specific, people taking their dogs and staying onsite with them. I think it is wonderful that the resorts are pet friendly. Anyone taken their cat??? Does the cat have to go to the kennel or can it stay in the room while you are gone??

I have a 16 year old cat that I am considering taking. We are staying at the HRH in May. She would be driving down with us. She is a GREAT car rider, has ridden since she was teeny. Anyhow, she has been in a kennel twice in her life, this past Christmas and in February for only a few days. Both times ended horribly and she got very ill at no fault of the kennel personnel. They were great, my dogs love them. Gone are the days that I can have someone come in every couple of days and look in on her, because she needs daily medication and I don't want to burden anyone to come in a couple of times a day. She is doing wonderfully right now, healthy and playful. I am just scared that another long term kennel visit would be too much on her and she would get sick again.

Your thoughts and experences would be helpful.

Thanks!

Denise

My cat stayed with me at HRH & RPR. Whenever we'd leave the room, I'd put her in the bathroom and shut the door. I made a sign at home that I brought with me to put on the outside of the bathroom door letting housekeeping know that the cat was in the bathroom and to please not open the door. I didn't use the kennels at all, I would've felt guilty leaving my cat there.

I'd put any towels that we used in the room so they could replace them with clean ones. They always took the used towels and left a clean supply on the chair. If we needed shampoo or anything like that, I just left a little note for them with the daily tip.

Hope you guys have a great time! If you have anymore questions, please ask. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info AllieKat!! My husband thinks I am crazy, and my 4 year old is concerned about the cat being too short for the Unicorn rollercoaster :rotfl: Do they have designated rooms for animals? I am guessing I need to add the little furball to the reservation, hehe. $25 deposit correct???

Thanks again!

Denise

Hi Denise!

I'm cracking up about your 4 year old being concerned about the cat being too short for the flying unicorn...that's one of the cutest things I've ever heard. :) Just about everyone thinks I'm crazy when they find out that my cat travels with me. That's okay, they don't have to understand. :teeth:

I've heard that all pet rooms are in tower 2. Me & my cat were placed in tower 2 as were my Mom & her dog. I was in room 2442 (regular room, king sized bed) and my Mom was right next door in 2444 (regular room, 2 queen sized beds). Outside our window were palm trees, banana trees, the water that flows beneath the front entrance bridge, the Hulk & Dr. Doom. We were only on the 4th floor so some of the trees were in front of the window, but that didn't bother me. I rather liked the view. You certainly couldn't tell that tower 2 was the pet tower. Housekeeping does a great job. :)

Just give the hotel a call (or email them) to add kitty to the reservation. The $25 deposit must be fairly new as that was never mentioned when my cat stayed with me.

Have a great time!

Sounds like a great location.

Do you have an email address for the HRH by any chance??

Thanks again.

Denise

For some reason I was thinking you were staying at RPR...but wait, yeah that's ME that's staying at RPR. Where has my brain gone? Ignore the room numbers that I posted above as they're for RPR not HRH. I can't remember what room I was in at HRH, but it's not one you'd want anyway. I had a view of the parking lot. :crazy2: I believe that HRH has a certain floor designated for pets. Again, just like with RPR, we couldn't tell that we were in a "pet" room. Everything was beautiful & really clean.

I cannot locate the email address for HRH. I just have the fax # (407-503-2010) and the phone # (407-503-2000). If I find the email address, I'll pm you. :)

Let me know how it goes!
I'm thinking about taking my kitty with me, though he's a young one. In the 6-12 month range, whiny so I'm hesitent on bringing him. We took him to the vet for his checkup recently, though I'm not too sure if he's old enough for most of his shots so would they allow him? Did you take yours to the vet how many days prior to the trip? Thanks!

Loews states that you must obtain a health certificate from a veterinarian within 10 days of the pet’s arrival. They'll ask to see it when you check-in.

My vet charges me $10 for the certificate. The certificate contains my cats name, color, weight, my info and a statement that says "This document certifies that on 04/09/06 I examined the animal listed above and, to the best of my knowledge, find this animal free from infectious or contagious diseases, including rabies." then has the vets signature.

The bottom of the form lists the vaccinations, the date they were given and when they expire. My cat receives 4 vaccinations (distemper, rabies, leukemia & FHV/FCV). They can be administered at 12 weeks of age. I no longer have them given at the same time though because the one time I did that, my cat was sick for 3 days. :guilty:

Good luck with everything. :)

AllieKat,
Do you remember, if it was standard Garden View room at HRH that had the parking lot view? I'd like to avoid the horrible views, & will switch to Pool View, if it will increase our chances of having something a little better to look at. TIA :)
