Has anyone stayed in a WL studio villa?

Hi! I've been on here reading and asking questions. Trying to stay within a budget and still get a great resort with fun theme and lots of magic! AND a kitchen of some sort.

At this point, renting a DVC studio villa at WL is probably as close as we can come. We'd at least get a small frig and microwave. We'd probably need to go to Publix a few times, but we could make do.

There will be 4 of us -- me and hubby, and two boys 11 and 13. We all like each other quite well and don't mind some togetherness! I know the square footage is small, but I wondered if any of you have stayed in one -- and how you thought it "felt."

Any input would be appreciated! I'm going to put in the dancing banana just because I like it.

A few years ago we stayed it one. Queen bed and pull out couch. Microwave, toaster & dorm size refridgerator.

We only stayed a few days as we like more room but if you are use to staying in a regular hotel room it is plenty of space. No sure when you are looking for but WL is one of the smallest DVC resorts so the earlier you book the better. You would want to book 8-12 months out.

We have stayed there 3 times in a studio.

The queen bed seems smaller than normal resorts
the couch will be tight squeeze for 2 boys

the room may be tight for 4 of you...you may be better off at a resort instead.

the DVC area of the WL is very close to the bus stops...steps literally.
The WL is a wonderful resort and we lOVE it !!

We were only a couple and it was fine for us...with a family of 4...a 1 bdrm would be nicer...but I understand more price wise.

We were there in a studio in april. We were 3 adults, a 6 year old and a baby. We used the pullout couch, and my sister brought an inflatable mattress, plus we had a crib. During the day we folded up the couch and moved the mattress. It was fine. The dvc building is great.

Thanks Missy! You had even more people in there than we would! Great to know!

The bed is a queen and the sleeper sofa is a queen as well. Depending on the size of your boys and how much they like each other it may or may not be a snug fit for them on the sofa. The studio is bigger than a standard moderate resort room by around 40sf +/- which doesn't sound like much but a 4' x 10' space can add a lot to a room. You'll have a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, paper towels, a small bottle of dish soap, toaster and paper plates and plasticware as well as glasses.

We've stayed four in a studio before and prefer that over a non-DVC room any day.

Thanks! I think this is the way for us to go!

I can reserve it in July -- and then I'll have to wait patiently for next summer.

For you people who go to WDW all the time, how do you live in the moment and not waste your time wishing for the next vacation???:)

I prefer to waste my time PLANNING our next trip to WDW! :cool1:

It's the only way to get over the Disney Blues. :sad2:

I am such an OCD, hyper-planner. Crazy. Our last trip had the deluxe dining plan -- we had reservations for every meal. Did everything! Chef Mickeys, O'Hana, Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, Coral Reef, Whispering Canyon, 50s Diner, Crystal Palace, Beach Club, Boma, and a bunch more!!!!! It was a little insane. But never had to get in line for character autographs, since they came to the tables at the meals.

AND -- I will share this, since I know everyone on here is a full-on Disney Geek like me. We were chosen to be the opening family for the Magic Kingdom!!!!! Now THAT was a truly memorable experience. Private photo shoot before the park opened with Mickey, Snow White, Daisy Duck, and Goofy. Mickey took my two little boys by the hand and walked them out to the balcony over the entry gate. We did the countdown and threw confetti! It was really really special! Once in a lifetime happening, for sure!

I'm trying not to get too excited about next summer's trip, since we don't have anything reserved yet.... the budget man hasn't fully given the go-ahead!

Hmmmm.... I seem to always have at least one trip in some sort of planning stage. I'm either picking dates, picking a resort or looking at where we want to eat. I work so that I can afford my WDW habit. :goodvibes

in a studio the bed is a queen but the sofa is double/full.

In an one bedroom the sofa is a queen.

See Sammie I thought the same thing as Disney's website advertises this, but I have gotten a lot of conflicting info from sites saying double/full, but when I went to book the room and go through the whole process it says queen sleeper sofa before you finalize booking. I know a few other people on the site who have stayed there have said queen sleeper as well. It is just overall confusing and I will be calling Disney resorts this week and asking them personally what the size, indeed, the sleeper sofa is. Obviously it is the million dollar question!

Nope, studios always have double sized sleeper sofas (except for OKW which has two queen beds, no sleeper sofa). One bedroom villas have queen sized sleeper sofas. When you call the resorts you'll get a call center and they may tell you it's king sized. They don't know unless they have something right in front of them. And even then, they can be wrong.

There have been times on the Disney website where you book your room at BC or BCV or other resorts and it will tell you that you have a Pirate view. Uh, really?? People who develop websites don't always have the right information either.

Just ask the people who stay and own there.
