I know the VB thread is a lot to get through. We just discovered Vero Beach last year. Here is my advice. Don't worry about where to go, what to do, etc. This is a wonderful beach vacation. Relax, let go, let the vacation take you. Maybe this isn't advice for everyone, but my husband and I are in our mid 50's. We are in love with Vero Beach. In my worst times, I think back to our VB vacation. Looking out from our patio at the ocean, watching the sun rise over the ocean, sitting by the pool, sleeping with our door open and hearing the waves, seeing the trees blow, walking on the beach looking for shells. We've been back again, and the only thing you might need to know is where the Publix is. Honestly - when you go to a store near WDW - it will take you the same amount of time to get off WDW property as it takes to go door to door to a Publix, a Super Walmart, a CVS. What else could you want? I hear there is live entertainment at the Green Cabin - but we are never out that late! We got up to see the sunrise, then went down to the beach, then to the pool. Then back up to our room to have a few drinks and watch the ocean. We live so simply when we go to VB - we have never even gone down to the restaurants (Shutters, Sonya's) in the hotel. We go to publix and pick up some lunchmeat and some flat out flat breads, chips, salsa, etc. There is a little liquor store there where we pick up some tequila to make margaritas (pack the bullet). And we go to the green cabin to order the flatbread pizza (my favorite) to go. They let us take it back, plates and silverware and all - back to our room. Now if you have children - there are plenty of activities and miniature golf right there, so the will have loads of fun too.

Just a little piece of heaven, isn't it? :cloud9:

We were in a 1 bdrm a couple weeks ago and the sleeper sofa and chair both appeared new and were matching. Not the most comfortable to sit on though. The cushions were pretty deep and sloped down to the front. I opened the chair and it looked like a nice mattress.

The sleeper sofas at SSR and BC are great...the one at Vero for my last visit could have been the one from the Seinfeld episode with Jerry's parents. When I heard they were doing a refurb I was hoping for an improvement.

..Now if you have children - there are plenty of activities and miniature golf right there, so the will have loads of fun too.
We took 2 4YO DGSs to VB a while back. The mention of miniature golf still makes me laugh - these boys were absolutely fascinated with where the ball would go once placed in the pirate treasure box - which just happened to be the last hole (where of course you cannot retrieve said ball..). The two of them would last one or maybe two holes before they would pick up the balls and run to the pirate treasure. All I can say is the member discount and especially the free member day was quite a godsend that trip. :goodvibes

I feel I need to comment on the mini-golf...I am an avid mini-golfer (I wish I could play in tournaments!). The mini-golf in Fantasia is on my list, and the grounds look wonderful. VB's mini-golf is nothing like this. In fact, I found it rather croweded, and sometimes your really close to someone's beach chair when golfing! I wasn't impressed with it, but for the kids, its right there. JMHO...:goodvibes

We were at VB in April with DD7 and LOVED it! Great places to eat in Sebatian that would be good with a little one are Captain Hiram's (which has a few dining options) and Squid Lips. They're both on the water, so you can walk up the dock or in the sand if your 3 yr old gets antsy while waiting for your dinner. For a really great meal and beautiful ocean front dining, go to Ocean Grill in downtown VB. It's more upscale, but not snooty. You have to drive to get anywhere, because there's almost nothing but the pizza place next door.

The resort has tons of things for little ones to do. Check the daily activities list. Some activities you have to sign up for, many are free, and some you just show up for. If you do the unbirthday party, arrive at Eb & Flo's at 9am or your child might not get to attend. There's limited availability. The free campfire at night is lots of fun for kids too. You can have a bad time at this resort!

Just went to VB for a quick weekend May 1st before driving to Disney and let me tell you we LOVED VB. In fact, it is now on our must do list included with our annual Disney trip. You will not be disappointed, as others have said there are a ton of activities for the kids and the staff that runs the recreation is fantastic. Enjoy;)
