Has anyone stayed at Vacation Village at Weston? What's it like? Are rooms clean and comfortable? What are the recreational :moped: amenities like? We are thinking of going there with our 2 kids in July. Do you recommend the resort?

I received your pm but thought I would respond here so others could read also.

The resort staff were fantastic and offered quite a few activities each day (bingo, crafts, games/races in the pool). No cost for the bingo or games but I think the crafts were about $2 each. Small store on site as well as a small arcade. The room we were assigned was super clean and furniture was on the newish side and in excellent shape. Nothing to walk to from the resort but a quick drive to grocery and other shopping. HUGE mall (sawgrass) close by as well as everglades boat tours. Far from the beach (10 miles maybe) but an easy drive.Great monday morning orientation (NOT a timeshare presentation) including pancakes/coffee/juice.
Resort grounds very well maintained.

You also have access to pool/activities at Vacation Village Bonaventure/Mizner Resorts but you have to drive to them.

Would totally reccommend this resort.
Good reviews/pictures can be found on www.tripadvisor.com

Sounds like a great place. I read some reviews that the furniture was old and outdated. I'm glad that you didn't have that experience. Is Weston a nice place where our family can go for a walk in the evenings? Is there a particular building you recommend so I can be close to the pool?

I did not find the furniture in our unit to be old or outdated. We had a tile beside the jacuzzi tub with a huge crack in it but other then that great. We were in the Osprey building (furthest from the pool etc , but quietest building I think) . I think that the Ibis building overlooks the pool but would be close to the Hwy (therefore, might be noisy). The unit we were in ( A unit) was also very clean. No washer/dryer in the unit, but there was one right down the hall. We were asked (nicely) several times to attend a timeshare presentation but we declined. The pool area was really clean and also offered free ping pong which many people seemed to enjoy.

Nowhere to really walk to. VV at Weston is located in an upscale area with resorts, golf courses, townhouses, homes etc. No shopping or stores I don't think within walking distance. But a really quick drive to grocery shopping and other shopping. A very safe area, especially since the week prior we had stayed inland at Pompano Beach (wyndham Palm aire). That was also a nice resort but SCARY neighbourhood.

I actually live in Weston...right down the street from it....We live in a great neighborhood and yes it is very safe. The vacation village in Weston is right in the middle of 'TOWN CENTER'. Definitely a nice place to take a stroll at night..riu girl..have you actually been there:confused3 They have live jazz going on during the weekends...cute little shops, a Publix right there, a great pizza place, ice cream, starbucks, a couple of reastaurants and other stores. Just a nice place to take a walk. As far as things for the kids...there really is nothing close enough to walk to and do..you would definitely need a car. Depending on the ages of your children I would be more than happy to recommend some things for you to do. We have awesome parks here..and plenty of fun things to do..We actually watched the place being built...from dirt up::yes:: So, as far as the area I can help you out...I have never stayed in the resort itself but it does look beautiful:) If there is anything you need just give me a hollar...good luck;)

Mizner Place is the resort right across from the town centre. My mom stayed at Mizner for 4 consecutive weeks fall 2006 (shortly after it had opened up)and spent a lot of time at the town centre. For a family though I would not reccommend Mizner Place (vs. VV at Weston) since the activities are limited and the pool much smaller. We did attend a bbq held one day at Mizner though and found the staff to be super friendly as well as the resort super clean.

Your info about the resort and Weston is very reassuring. I feel much better now about booking the week for my family now that I know how great the resort and town is. Weston sounds like a nice, family-friendly, affluent neighborhood. It sounds just like the kind of place where my wife, two boys (an 8-year-old and 11-year-old), Grandma and I could go for a nice walk to check out the parks or neighbourhood. The weekend jazz sounds like a lot of fun. We are looking for low-cost, family-friendly activities like going to the beach, checking out the parks, town, resort pool, ping pong, bingo. We are NOT into spending big bucks at theme parks, restaurants and stores. We enjoyed walking around Celebration and Naples (is Weston similar)? I had heard some negative reviews about Vacation Village at Weston on the small size of the rooms and I was also concerned about the lack of activities such as putt putt golf, shuffleboard, basketball. Based on what you have said it sounds like my family of 5 will have a great time at VV in Weston. Do you recommend going into Miami with my family on Sunday afternoon to check out South Beach, Little Havana, downtown Miami, Coral Gables?

Personally fro me I would not drive to Miami. The drive from Weston is about 40-60 minutes. You can enjoy the beaches at Ft. Lauderdale. The Hollywood Boardwalk has just been totally redone and is a great place to take a walk..you can spend the day at the beach and then some time on the boardwalk. There is an awesome museum in Ft. Lauderdale (Museum of Discovery and Science). It is all hands on and the kids would love it, not too expensive either. Off of I-95 there is a great IGFA Fishing Museum. There is also a Bass Pro Shops there which is great to walk around...also inexpensive. If it happens to rain, which in South Florida it does :( you can take a ride to Sawgrass Mills. Huge mall with plenty to look at and do..easily spend a couple of hours there. Weston is a very family oriented and beautiful area. I think you would have a great time..If there is anything else I can help you with just let me know.

Thanks for the info. I will be at Vacation Village at Weston next month and wanted to find out:

I) How long does it take to drive to:

1) Fort Lauderdale beach?
2) Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery & Science?
3) Hollywood Boardwalk?

II) Are Ibis and Heron buildings the only ones with pool views?

III) Driving from Fort Myers to Weston, is I-75 the fastest way to go?

The drive to both Fort Lauderdale Beach and Hollywood Boardwalk is about 25-30 minutes. Hollywood also has a great beach area,,,you can enjoy for the day and then do the boardwalk. Fort Lauderdale beac is awesome also...no boardwalk but you can walk on Las Olas which is really nice. The drive really isn't bad as long as you wait for rush hour traffic to finish..if you leave Weston about 9 am the traffic for the most part is gone. The museum is also about 20-30 minutes into downtown Ft. Lauderdale. There is a parking garage for you to park in also. As far as the drive from Ft. Meyers...yes I-75 also known as alligator alley :) is your best bet. We actually have friends over in Ft. Meyers and it is about a 2 hour drive right across 75. I forwarn you..it is a very boring drive,,but the quickest. Anything else...let me know.

We are finalizing plans for our trip this month to VVW and have a few questions:
1) how does VVW compare to Lehigh Resort Club?
2) apart from Publix, is there Winn-Dixie or Walmart Supercenter near VVW?
3) driving from Fort Myers, which I-75 exit do I take to get to VVW?
4) is VVW located behind a shopping mall (do I have to drive into shopping mall to get to VVW entrance)?
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

VVW is not located at the shopping mall (Weston Town Centre). Mizner Place is.

From Fort Myers, simply Map quest directions. We did that when we arrived to VVW (from Wyndham Palm Aire) and it worked out perfectly well.

In the immediate area we just saw the two Publix stores, but I could have missed a Walmart or Winn Dixie.

When you check in at VVW you will be given a map of the immediate area. Both of the Publix stores will be located on the map.
