Has anyone stayed at the Radisson Resort Parkway?

We normally stay at a Disney Resort, but the kids are interested in also doing Sea World and Universal on our next trip so we were thinking of staying outside the park. Wondering if anyone has stayed at the Radisson Resort Parkway - DU is offering a $79 rate and it looks like a nice resort. It would definitely save us $'s, but we don't want to make the wrong choice. Any reviews good and bad would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dawn- We stayed there for just one night this past spring before checking into the BCV. The hotel is quite large and it seems to have a nice pool area. Our room was clean and the beds were comfy. Since it was just one night, we didn't do anything at the hotel but sleep. I would stay there again.

I stayed there last year and it was very nice for the money. The Unoffical Guide to WDW gave it 41/2 stars out of 5 so that gives you an idea. It's not as nice as a Loews hotel (like the ones at Universal) but I think it is in the same league as Disney's moderates (perhaps nicer). They have a great pool area, the breakfast was a reasonable price (kids 10 and under eat free!) and they have a free shuttle to all theme parks (SeaWorld, Unviersal, disney too). Currently they have a special, book a second room and get 50% off - put B150 in the promotion code box when booking. This link also had some good rates - you might check it out:LINK FOR DISCOUNTS

The book one room, get one 1/2 off is supposed to be good till Dec. 20th. I'd stay there again - it was nice.

Hi Dawn - We stayed there back in 1998 for 2 nights. We liked it. We didn't get to use the pool because we were so busy but it looked wonderful. We ate at the breakfast buffet and it was very good. The grounds are very nice and it is a short drive to WDW. We much prefer being onsight tho.

Stayed here several years ago for a few days and had a great stay. Enjoyed the pool and breakfast bar, room was comfy and staff was nice. When staying off grounds this is a very nice place to stay. I really had no complaints about it.

Hi Dawn - If you are considering Radisson Resort, be sure to check out Mousesavers.com. Mary has a rate less than $79 a night!!! Happy Planning.

Hi, I appreciate the info on this hotels special (2nd room 50% off) as I'm looking to book two rooms anyways lol. I do have some questions if you don't mind.
Does this hotel offer any rooms with balconies or patios?
I've heard that alot of hotels in the Florida area, the ground floor can have critters and mold, but the higher floors don't usually have this problem, any truth in that?
The breakfast plan.....if you don't choose that, is there breakfast available to purchase, and is it expensive?
How many floors does this place have, and does it have better views the higher up?
Sorry for so many questions, but I've GOT to make our reservations today, been dragging my feet, and we go soon. :)
Thanks in advance!

We stayed there in December and our only complaint was the shuttle. They leave you off and pick you up at ttc. At night we could never find the bus and if you miss it it's at least and hour's wait. We wound up taking a lot of cabs.

Thru a link on Deb's site wdwig, I got a $78 rate per night which included Breakfast. It was the "Go" package.

The hotel itself was lovely. I agree with renting a car...there's no way we'd rely on a shuttle alone, even staying at a WDW resort. I like to have the freedom to go wherever we'd like without waiting for a taxi or shuttle.

I booked the Raddison thru mousesavers got $59 rate for this sept. Have not stayed there before but I too thought it looked like a nice place.
You can purchase the breakfast buffet I believe its about $9 pp, with kids under 10 free with paying adult.
www.mousesavers.com Mary has a good review of this hotel as well as discounted rates, not sure when you are going.
We are not renting a car since we are only staying for 4 days, wanted to cut back on expenses. I have read the reviews on the shuttle but we will give it a shot, who knows maybe it has improved???? If not taxi's are plentiful.

Hi Dawn,

My husband, son and I stayed at the Radisson Resort Parkway in June of this year. We stayed for one night, and I know for a fact that we won't stay there again. Let me explain. The rooms, although rated highly by the Unofficial Guide by Sehlinger, are pretty small. (They have been newly remoldeled with Italian tile and stuff, which is nice, but even though we had two connecting rooms we still felt cramped. The bathrooms are teeny tiny because the sink, toilet, and tub/shower area are compacted into the same space.) The rooms were pretty clean, though.

We went swimmimg at the main pool. They have a great waterslide and waterfall, unfortunately, the pool, which we visited in the early evening, was full of leaves and other debris. We never got to use the hot tubs because they were packed with people. My husband and son needed to use the men's bathroom by the pool. They came back and reported to me that it was disgusting! Apparently a hotel guest was not able to make it to the toilet on time so they left a turd on the floor and did not bother to clean it up. (Totally gross man!)

I thought the outside of the resort could have been kept up better. I saw a lot of litter mixed in with the landscaping plants. There is also a maintenance door, behind the waterfall at the main pool, which looks totally destroyed. (All I kept thinking was, why not just replace this thing? How expensive could it be?)

Anyhow, that was my experience there. I initially stayed there because I was influenced by good reviews from the Unofficial Guide, Fodor's Florida, Dream's Unlimited and Mousesavers.com. I learned my lesson that good reviews and cheap rates, do not necessarily guarantee you a decent stay. (or other considerate guests.)

I apologize to give this place a bad review, but I'm pretty picky about hotels. We ate at their buffet breakfast, but were told they would have to charge us extra for our glasses of orange juice. ( Reality check --I mean we are in Florida, right?)

Alright, I'm done. If you need any other info about this "resort" I'll try to help.

When we stayed (last Oct), I had a ground floor room overlooking the pool area. I thought the room was plenty big (as big as any room I've had at Disney or Universal (with the exception of the Yacht Club concierge which with the extra vanity space in the bathroom area made that room a little larger). So , it is not cramped at all.

I also found the resort clean and well kept for our visit. They say they have a "playground area" but when I was there this was way out of the way and really NOT fixed up at all - don't bother with that.

The breakfast buffett during our visit was about $7.95 per person. Drinks might have been extra (as often is the case with buffets). Kids 10 and under eat free with adults.

For the money, this is a great place. If I paid $200.00 a night I would not have been happy (for that kind of money, I expect a first class resort like a Ritz, Loews, etc...) , but $69.00 a night , this is a very good value.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Puffy2,
This is reassuring for those of us with upcoming ressies at this hotel.
Jsarge, I'm sorry your experience was such a negative one, unfortunatly some hotel guests are not "up to snuff" shall we say, and that can ruin anyone's stay.
But I don't think one bad experience makes a bad hotel.
Hopefully you will have better luck with your next hotel experience.

We have just returned from a two night stay using the two room code from Mousesavers. When we checked in Thursday at 1:30, the lobby was very full of people having a family reunion. After waiting in line for 15 min. were told to come back at 3:00 for room key. Went out for lunch, came back, had to wait in line again for 15 min. for room key. This place is huge, drove around, found the right building, parked, drug all suitcases up to room only to discover it was a smoking room that smelled worse than the casinos in Las Vegas. The adjoining room smelled fine however. Called down to the desk, was told due to the reunion, there were no more adjoining rooms. Explained that I am highly allergic to cig. smoke and they promised to send someone to deodorize the room. Went down to the pool until 5:30 (which is very nice by the way) came up and no one had been there yet. Called to the front desk, was on hold for 10 minutes - finally sent someone up at 6:00 and he was wearing a mask while he sprayed!!! Stayed in the other room until 6:30 and we finally went in - it was horrible - we all started sneezing and coughing - called back to front desk, waited on hold another 10 minutes, was told there were no more connecting rooms, they would give me a room on the floor below = at this point, that was all we could do, I was so upset - had purposely picked this hotel for the deal with the adjoining rooms -

the breakfast buffet was wonderful tho as was the pool area - the beds were hard as rocks and we ended up leaving a day early -

We stayed there this past May with the Mousesavers $69/night rate. I had no complaints. I didn't care for the decor of the rooms, but that's just my personal taste. We only stayed for two nights, so we didn't get to spend much time looking around, but it was clean and nice enough. I don't think I would have wanted to spend an entire vacation there, because it just didn't feel "Disney" to me, but for the price it was fine for the short time we stayed.

I will second the comments about the rental car for longer visits. The shuttles were fine in the morning, but forget about going to visit other resorts, Downtown Disney at night, etc. We ended up taking a taxi instead.

In summary, I'd stay again for a short visit if the rate was low. Adequate, but definately no "magic!"
