Hello,
New here, but have been reading for a while! ok, I am going to Disney Jan 31st. And I got a decent AP rate at the AKL Villas Studio, but have not seen to much on this. Has anyone here been and what can you tell me about them?
Thanks!:flower3:

Hi and :welcome: to the Dis!!

DH, DD13, DS9, & I stayed in a studio at AKV Dec. 20-26.

We had not made any room requests & we got a great room...room 5401.
It's on the 5th floor, the lobby is on the third floor.
We were the first room off of the elevator..so we were directly overlooking the lobby & the huge, beautiful Christmas tree.
Right ourside our back door was a full view of the pool.

Except for a few Mousekeeping glitches, our stay was perfect.
By glitches, I mean we ran out of toilet paper & it took over 6 hours to get more. Our room also did not have a hair dryer. One tip from me....don't wait until your hair is soaking wet to look for the hair dryer & then discover you don't have one. We also did not have the internet connection cable that was supposed to be there..so we had to wait for that too. A few other glitches, but everything else was great!

I also learned that you can show up for breakfast at Boma without an ADR if you go early enough...this was even possible on Christmas Eve.

We absolutely loved our stay at AKV...it's now our favorite winter resort!! BCV is our absolute favorite though, & we're heading there this summer.

Hope you have a great trip. Lucky you!! Any other questions, please ask.

yes, thanks!!
now, what about this internet thing? Are there any "hot spots" like in the lobby etc? Or do I need to pay per day in my room? I do have an airport card, so I should be able to pick any signals out there!
sorry to here about the hair dryer! lol...but being a hairdresser, I carry my own! but thanks for the tip. Now what is in the kitchenette? and did you get any groceries at the gift shop? or should I arrange for delivery of stuff?

again, thanks!princess:
I am really looking forward to going and just relaxing on this trip, which is why I picked this resort! oh, also, is there any new restaurants open there now?

Check out the DVC board. There are a few threads there about AKV room types and trip reports. Have fun on your trip!!! :)

In our kitchenette were:
about 4 paper plates & paper bowls
5 coffee mugs
small refrigerator
small microwave
dishtowel
travel size liquid Palmolive
several sets of individually wrapped plastic silverware

I don't know about any "hot spots" anywhere.
DH just paid $10.00 each day that he wanted internet hook-up

Boma & Jiko are the two restaurants...along with Mara, the counter-service area.

We always do the Dining Plan, so we never keep much food in the room.
We did pickup a half-gallon of 1% (we LOVE skim...but they were totally sold out of it) milk in the gift shop for the room though.

You are lucky to be going soon !! Have fun!!
