Has anyone stayed at both WL Villas and WL?

We couldn't get a room at WL, so we took a studio at the Villas. We're excited about it, since I assume they are the same layout as BC Villas and Boardwalk Villas. Which did you prefer - standard room at the Lodge or a villa room?

We have stayed at both. Since it's usually DH and me travelling we prefer the studio. It's nice to have the sofa instead of another bed. They are the same as a studio at Boardwalk. When our kids travelled with us we liked to have the extra bed. Neither wanted to sleep on the sofa bed more than a night or two.

Count me as another one who prefers the studios. I like having the additional sink area so I am not in my fiance's way while we are both getting ready, etc. I tend to get yelled at when I get in her way:rotfl2:

We've stayed in both and they are pretty darn similar. The Lodge rooms are, of course, closer to restaurants, shops, etc.. If you get stuck down the end of the Villas hallway, it could be a realllllly long walk to your studio. Request a room as close to the Lodge as possible.

I've stayed in both. If there are only two people, the studio is the better room. You still have the queen bed for sleeping, but the room seems so much larger with a sofa instead of a second bed. The kitchenette is also very handy, and the refrigerator is larger in the studios than in WL.

If you have more than two people, I would go with WL. You get two queen beds, so no one is sleeping on a sofa bed.

The bathrooms in both are laid out very similar, so that's not really an issue. Also, both have balconies (except for one studio on the 4th floor - watch for that one), although I would have to give WL a slight advantage on view, especially if you book a main courtyard view. The bus stop is sort of between the two, so for the most part, there's not much difference in distance to transportation (it's not that long a walk around the back of WL from the villas to get the boat to MK). You have access to all the pools and recreational facilities when you stay at either one.

The main issue is convenience to the restaurants. If you are in WL, you just take an elevator down, and there you are. If you are in the villas, you do have to exit your building, walk over to the other building, and then to the far side of the lobby to access the restaurants. It might take an extra 10 minutes.

I would second the idea to request a studio close to either the elevators or close to the main lodge. There are some studios at the far end of the hall that overlook a service area. Not the best view around. For the most part, I have ended up on the 4th floor, about a third of the way down the long hall, and the walk hasn't been bad.

Stayed at both many times and prefer the studios. The villas is closest to the bus stop, marina, playground, store, daycare, lobby. While the resort itself is centrally located. Since WL is such a small resort, I don't find the walk a problem at all. If you want quiet the villas offer that. Plus the villas are in their own building connected by a covered breezway. Their building has it's own lobbying for relaxing and playing boardgames or just reading a book on the comfy sofas. We like have the kitchenette in the villa. While a standard room has a small frig and coffee pot, the villas offers a larger frig, coffee pot, microwave, toaster, sink and dishes (mostly paper). (They also provide dish washing soap, dish towel, cork screw, and plastic forks/spoons). You can also ask for additional things which are listed on a sheet of paper usually inside the kitchen cabinets. I alway have them send up a blender to make some yummy drinks for the pool.

We have stayed at both several times. In general, I agree with the above posts as it relates to a Studio or a WL room. Very, very similar in decor, atmosphere, etc.

Enjoy your stay!

Interesting post. We stayed at WL several years ago with our kids. This Feb. just the two of us will be back staying in a VWL studio. This is one of my favorite resorts and I am lookimng forward to the trip...smjj

We stayed at the WLV in Sept 2007 in a studio and it was nice. It is very quiet at the Villas. We used the main pool everyday, because my 2 kids (4 &3) loved the water slide. If I did go back, which we are probably going to do in May 2008, I'd book a courtyard room at the WL.
