Has anyone stayed at both POFQ and CSR? Can you PLEASE help me decide on a last minute trip?

We have stayed at both many times, and will in the future (Mods get the best bang for your $). For our family the 2 PO resorts, especially POFQ edge out CSR. We really like the different themes of each resort for different reasons. But, having access to 2 resorts, boat to DS, being able to rent a surrey bike, family entertainment with Ye Ha Bob and the option to take a wonderful carriage ride, makes a difference for our family.

Thank you everyone!! This decision is SO hard!! I actually wouldnt mind the construction at CBR (weve watched many videos). ALso, we will be there in August so the pool will be open. I love so much about both and I love to try new resorts! Is a split stay a ridiculous idea for such a short trip? I want both lol!!

Are you talking about CBR or CSR??

OP, we have stayed at both resorts, also. We have stayed at POR too, and it is my favorite of all of them. I know you didn't ask about POR, but I feel you would never get "bored" at POR, just too much to do and see. Check out it's website to see. We love the big Mill QS restaurant. There are a ton of options and we've never been disappointed in the food or service. The shop is pretty big and fun to explore. There are Mansions and quaint bayou areas. As of October 15, there are no more dog friendly rooms at POR, Yea! That is why we tried POFQ this past year.

POFQ is a nice resort. It is small with a New Orleans feel to it, of course. I am not a fan of that décor, but we found it to be very nice. I didn't notice any difference in wait times at POFQ or POR, so I don't think the one bus stop makes too much of a difference. We liked the food court at POR much better with their choices. The pool area does seem to be geared more for kids, but you can use the pools at POR too.

We stayed at CSR once and it is a beautiful resort. We stayed in Casitas 3 with a view of the gorgeous fountain area. We really enjoyed our stay there. It did not feel like a convention hotel at all. I dont' know why, but the rooms seemed bigger than other moderates we stayed at? The rooms are very nice. The walk from Casitas 3 to the main bldg. was not bad, and our bus stop was right behind bldg. 3. We did not have any problems at all with the buses at CSR. The food court was also great with lots of choices. Their pool is awesome!. You didn't say if you have kids or not, but it would be perfect for adults or kids.

So, If I had to choose a moderate, it would be POR. I know, it's not on your list, so next would be CSR, then POFQ. POFQ is last because we are not fond of New Orleans decorations and that vibe, and it is much smaller. Hope this helps:)

It is perfect!! We didnt include POR because it is the most expensive of the mods! CSR in casitas is where we would stay if we chose CSR and I like 3 too! We do have a daughter who is 5 who will stay in the pool for 12 hours if we let her! She LOVES waterslides! We plan to make it a very resort heavy stay since its going to be so hot- we will be at the parks at nighttime!! THank you so much!

I think if the main pool was closer to the casitas section I would choose CSR. THe size of the resort and distance to the pool from casitas looks intimidating (esp in the 100 degree weather!) Also, is the bus service OK at CSR?

When we went to POFQ in March, it was the most expensive, more so that our favorite, POR. Anytime I have checked it, it is more expensive than POR. Maybe it is the time of year that we go???? I think CSR would be cheaper due to construction. You can't go wrong with any of them, have a great vacation:)

It is a walk, for sure to the pool. I don't know how a 5 year old would be? But there are little kids at the pool, so? The bus service was the same as anywhere else when we went. It was a few years ago, so maybe that has changed. But we found the bus service to be good with no complaints at that time. I think all the resorts have problems with bus service at times, even POR and POFQ.

I did a split stay with three resorts last month with a short trip and I came to the conclusion that I thought I would have about split stays for myself, being no, I don't care for them that much. But I did get to experience two different DVC resorts which was a good thing. I could handle a split stay in the future if it were like a 1/4-6 days. Not really 2/2 or 2/3. For this trip I would pick one and stick with it. I am considering a couple nights at WBCreek next year to try that place out and then 4-5 nights at OKW, but only because I do wanna give WBCreek a go.

My husband’s favorite moderate is CSR. He loves the feel of the resort, how it is lit up at night, the hammocks, the pool, the lobby, relaxing walks in the evenings with nice scenery...

My favorite moderate resort is POFQ. I love how small it is, the bus rides to all of the parks seem shorter than from CSR, the boat to DS, the splash pad for the kids and the New Orleans theme.

We alternate between the two, but with the construction going on at CSR, we will be at POFQ for our next stay. Yay for me!!

They are both favorites of mine, but even with construction I would choose CSR.

Coronado: If the pool is open, I love their pool and the hot tub is huge. I also think the QS breakfast there is fantastic as far as Disney breakfast goes.

POFQ: The resort is beautiful and you can also venture over to POR. It'll probably cost a lot more than CSR though, so you have to keep price in mind. You get two pools to play in which is fun! I am always disappointed by the POFQ hot tub. The water level is low and there seem to be more teens in there which as a solo traveler is a little awkward, especially since it's isolated from the main pool area. I would like the tub more if I was with a group of friends, I think. The bathrooms in the room are huge & beautiful, much better than CSR's IMO. If this is a resort-heavy stay, I would do POFQ.

I think people make to big of a deal in regards to a 5-10 minute walk, our family has stayed at CSR and POR since our DDs were infants and never felt like the walks were long. We actually like walking through the resorts we stay at and enjoy the theme of the resort. Plus, look at it this way, when you get back to your room you will be dry:)

But it is a big deal to some people and sometimes you don’t know how big a deal it is until you’re actually there.

Long walks to the pool, buses, and foodcourt wear me down and cause me to lose enjoyment of a particular resort, especially for our two week stays in August when it’s either super hot or crazy raining. They are my biggest beefs with CSR and POR. At CSR in particular, it’s impossible to be close to everything.

Have stayed at both.

LOVE CSR - it has more amenities and more to "explore" than any other moderate. The pool is one of the best on property, the numerous dining options, the landscaping is beautiful, the critters around the lake. I could spend days there enjoying just the resort.

POFQ is likely one I will never book again. It's full moderate prices but lacking the amenities of a moderate, with a tiny hot tub, a pool geared for young children with a huge expanse concrete deck. While I love the decor of NOLA, I found the resort itself dull and boring with nothing to do or see. If I am going to trek over to POR for most everything I might as well stay there.

RE: your CSR concerns, to me the theme is one of the best with three distinctly themed areas making it great to wander around. We have probably stayed close to around 10 times and NEVER were aware of convention folks except one day at lunch in the Pepper Market since we saw the business casual clothes ... but that was before they added some dining options. The plus of conventions is the pools are less crowded as well as the buses. If using buses at POFQ there is one stop and some rooms are a longer walk than many of the rooms at CSR since the bus skirts around the outside of the resort.

CBR and POR are both bigger footprints than CSR, getting around does not take long at all.

We have stayed at all the moderates. Stayed at Coronado for the first time this past march and LOVED it. It is now our favorite moderate. The pool was great. Loved just walking around the different areas and looking around. The food court was awesome. Maya grill was fantastic. It really is not that far of a walk to anywhere. I found the bus service to be quite good. Even at the end of the days it seemed that the lines for the CSR bus were much shorter than other resorts.
