Has anyone stayed AKV Concierge --had it and lost it !!!

I called Sunday for my 11 month stay for 7 nights. I was thinking of staying AKV concierge for 3 nights and BWV for 4 nights. I own at both resorts. Well I was thrilled to find that I could get concierge but the gentleman that I spoke to told me that the only views are of roof tops. I can't imagine staying there and NOT seeing animals. The only reason that I wanted concierge was to do the sunrise safari tour. Well after hearing about the view I went and booked all 7 nights at BWV. All day Sunday I thought about AKV and decided to call Mon.morning and just book 2 nights at AKV hoping that concierge was still open - well I am kicking myself now that I didn't take it. I really really want to do that sunrise safari tour. Has anyone stayed there and how bad where the views. I could try to call Friday and try for the last 3 nights of the week. I also love the location of the BWV. Should I try for the concierge? I am also on a waitlist for the first 2 nights. Is concierge worth it? Thanks everyone !!!!

The tour is only offered twice per week. I wonder if you have to be registered there on the tour days to qualify for the tour. Last I heard tours were on Sunday and Thursday. If you stayed Tuesday and Wednesday would you be out of luck?

My understanding is that you need to be staying Concierge the night before the tour. A couple of people have reported being able to do the tour on the day they were checking in but most (including me) were told that is not possible. We'll be staying concierge in May so I can't report about the room views personally.

I also tried to get concierge again for Nov but it was already booked up when I called at 11 months.

Thanks everyone !!!! I am going to call Friday morning and keep my fingers crossed. I called and the tour is only offered on Sunday and Thur. so I would have to stay 3 nights (Wed thru Sat) to book the tour. Does anyone know how hard it is to get the tour. I see that they only allow so many people on the tour. Do you have to call so many months out to get it? Thanks again !!

No, there are 5 two bedroom lock offs in the CL catagory. That means a total of 10 possible units if everything is broken up into 1 bedrooms and studios. Three or the 2 bedroom lock offs face the Sunset savanna, and 2 of them overlook the pool and the roof of the restaurants. We had the pool view one last March, and frankly, it wasn't that bad. You can still see animals in the distance from the Uzima savanna from your pool view balcony. Here are some pictures of our view.

Thanks for the info. We never worry about views, but at the AKV, it would obviously matter a little more to us.

We stayed in the pool view last time & didnt mind it one bit. I actually just booked concierge today for a September stay. I didnt even ask what the view was. I was just happy to get concierge again. Look at it this way. If you own at AKV, you can always stay at a Savannah view room in the future. I dont think they are adding more Concierge room so it will always be harder to get it...

The perks to me outweigh the view.. Sunrise or sunset safari option, etc

If you are only looking at staying there a couple days, I would at least try it. If you dont, you know for future trips.

Don't wait for them to contact you -- we were never contacted when we stayed concierge there in January 08 -- it's better to contact them than hope that they contact you (even if they are supposed to)

They have a wonderful spread -- enjoy!

On Dec 23rd I received an email from AKV concierge that the booking for the Safari's is now 90 days instead of the 180 days that it used to be. It's going to follow the same schedule as dining and other tours. I'm still waiting to get a confirmation on my May stay - just a few more weeks!!! I did receive a contact email from them in Oct which was approximately 200 days from the start of our stay. At that time they thought they'd be able to book the safari in just a few weeks.

this is interesting to me...since i plan everything and pretty much count down to just about everything...i have a AKV CL ressie for July 19 which is exactly 200 days away from today I wonder if i will get a phone call later on today or since its NYE that call is totally out of the pic???

Thanks everyone !!!!! I am going to call Friday morning and hope that I get it. I think that just to be able to book the sunrise safari tour is worth it and someone said I could always stay there and book a sv view another time.

I called this morning to see if there was a 1 bedroom, I am on the waitlist for a studio and the studio opened up while I was talking to MS. I am soooo excited So I booked the first 2 nights Concierge and then move to BWV for 5 nights. I just hope after all this that they do not change the days for the sunrise safari tour. Right now they are on Sundays and Thur. Do you think that I will have a hard time getting in that tour at 90 days out? Now I can really celebrate New Years !!!!! Thanks everyone !!!

Congratulations! Just make sure you reserve it exactly at the first moment you can, and you should be fine. We LOVED both the sunrise and Waynyama safaris! It's the real reason I want to do concierge level again!

I already posted the view from our room earlier on this thread. Look up a few posts.

I believe you have to be staying at AKV the night you do the Waynama safari. It might be worth a call to concierge to find out though.

We are in a 1 bed...and i think iam even going to request the pool view!...not bothered about the savannah.

Are you hoping to do the sunrise safari?...Iam hoping to book it for the 23rd.
