Has anyone started researching?

Did anyone out there start looking into the one way airfares to CA and from FL? Or is it too early to look at flight costs? I have never booked an airline on my own. I am assuming buying one way tickets will cost more than round trip, correct?

Also, any suggestions on where to start looking for hotels and transfers in the CA area? We are planning to go out to CA early and do 3 or 4 days at DL before the 14 night cruise to FL. I don't even have a clue how close to each other DL and the Port of LA are. Maybe we will have to rent a car.

Perhaps it's time to head to the book store for the Unofficial Guide to Disney Land.

I'm begining to feel a little stressed and this trip is sooooo far off!!!

One way tickets are not necessarily higher than round trip...used to be the case, but, not anymore.

It's too early to book. I know for us, a one way from Philadelphia to LA was $99. Very easy to book. We need to find out more about the area where the cruise terminal is located to start evaluating hotels.

the earliest you can book airfare will be about 11 months out ... Southwest will be 4-6 months out, and right now they seem to be the cheapest when it comes to one way airfares.

DL and the Port of LA are probably 30 minutes apart, without horrid traffic. ;)

We are planning on flying into LAX (or SNA... Santa Ana). The airfare is not avalaible yet, most airlines are currently only through March 2005. Both LAX and SNA offer shuttle service to Disney Property for a fairly good rate (SNA is about 10 minutes to DL where LAX is about 30-45 minutes) We have found that you are hit or miss with pricing on airfare, but if you check the cheaper airlines you can get pretty good one way rate (Southwest, Delta's Song, America West, Alaska Airlines, etc.) We are planning on going out on Wednesday night and spending Thursday and Friday at the parks and then the cruise leaves Saturday (which we will probably just hail a taxi for transportation to the port, from what I have found it is aprox 30 miles from Disney to the port)

We will probably end up just staying on Disney Property (you can usually get good rates at the Disneyland Hotel (although I might splurge for the Grand Californian this time).

I am so excited about this trip... Even though I have other stuff planned between now and then this is the one that I am most excited for :)

Anyone whose airport has Sprit may want to check them out. I called and the prices for Aug 05 will be released late Aug/early Sept. They are a discount airline and I usually get a lower price through Sprit than Southwest airlines. Anyone is Chicagoland, as a bonus they only fly out of O'Hare.

Laughingplace.com has a pretty good Disneyland trip planning section that you may want to look at. Also, visit the Disneyland forum here on the disboards.

we'll be using southwest since we belong to their reward program and have flown them almost exclusively in the last several years. we're expecting one way tickets between FL and CA to be around $99 per person. they probably won't go on sale until mid-winter.

i can't do anything with the airlines now like others said, it too early but i have in mind that i will be flying Las Vegas and see the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyan and then drive to LA area, go to DL and and tour the area and then head to the ship.
We are talking taking almost a month vacation.
