I just saw it on their website today where you download this program, get 2 points for including your RR #, and then download. You will get an icon down below your screen which will ding with an envelope the very second a deal from your hometown airport is made. I think I will sign up. I just wondered if others had heard of it and gotten any dings yet?

I just noticed this. I'm at work now (it's snowing outside and we are all antsy to get home!!) but will download tonight on my notebook. Since we're going to WDW in June, it will be a big help. Also, since SW is in competition with USAirways here in Philly, both will undoubtedly offer the same fare. Thanks!

I started to download >DING!< earlier this morning, since I am desperate to find a reasonable fare for our April/Anniversary trip. However, with my sl-o-o-o-w dialup it was going to take about 30 minutes (since the download size is over 5MB), so I stopped the download - not wanting to tie up my computer for over 30 minutes.
Then, just a bit ago, I got an e-mail from Southwest about >DING!<. I think I'll go ahead and download it this afternoon, because there are supposed to be extra special fares available *only* through the >DING!< service.

agnes!

The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is you can only list 1 home airport. I am about a 3 hour drive from 3 different southwest locations, so any of those 3 could be my home airport! STL, MCI, or TUL...Which to pick?

Since both MCI and STL have alot of Non Stops to Orlando. I would choose one of them. Tul is my home airport but to MCO via SWA, its not very conivent, either long layovers or more than one stop.

I signed up this morning. It's great. I already received my first notification. Nothing I can use today, but there is always hope. The easier they make it to book, the lower they can keep the fares.

Since I have to book 6 seats for our return from Spokane as soon as the post August 3 flights are released this should help me keep on top of things!

Yeah Southwest!!!!!

Did anyone else have trouble getting it installed? When I tried, I got an error saying that it could not find the SWA server. Already checked and it's not a firewall issue.

Mickey, did you have your internet connection available? I got this message, but I had shut down AOL. When I tried it again (with AOL up) all went fine.

Yup, I have a persistent connection. Guess I'll have to try again later.

I just finished the installation, missing the first set of special offers. Like another poster said, there wasn't anything I could use, but some of those fares looked quite reasonable :goodvibes . I think that this is a good marketing gimmick for SW to have come up with...those TransMeridian/Independent Air/Jet Blue fares were starting to look pretty good...

(Here's to hoping that the >DING!< fairy makes a BWI/MCO combo next on the list),
agnes!

I'm contemplating signing up for STL on my work computer and MCI on my home computer, so I won't miss any offers so to speak. Those of you who have rec'd Ding offers, can you tell us what the time limit was on the offer? In other words, will I miss out on an MCI offer if I don't find out about it until I get home from work? Or will I miss out on an STL offer if it is made at night and I don't find out about it until the next morning? Just trying to figure out a way to maxmize my options here as we really could go to either airport for our sept trip!

I signedup/downloaded. Can only hope a good fare comes my way when i need/want it to wher i'm going.

I signed up right away this morning and already had a DING. :teeth: Unfortunately it wasn't for my travel days. I like seeing the little tail on my tool bar!

I signed up but the DINGS were expired when they came up.

HOWEVER, I am thrilled I have an additional 2 RR credits in my account!!!!

Unfortunately for me, my computer is a Mac - hopefully they'll come out with a version for them too!!! :sad2:
travelin' tigger,
Another Mac owner here. Please be sure to write or call SWA and let them know your disappointment that they don't have a Mac version. I have already addressed my letter and asked if they have an alternative for us such as extra email notices.

Everyone else,
Please, please, please pm me if you are in the MCI market and get an offer for good airfare from MCI to MCO since I can't get Ding and won't be able to know about the good offers.

looks like it is just not 2 credits for signing up.....we have some commitment to the program in order to get the credits

this is from the FAQ on Southwest about DING....

7. If I enter my Rapid Rewards number during registration will I receive bonus RR credits for downloading?

During the initial launch week, Rapid Rewards Members who have joined the Rapid Rewards E-mail Update list will receive an e-mail notifying them of a limited-time offer. This offer will give Members two bonus credits once they install the application AND run it for a minimum of 30 days.

wonders if this applies to only linkage from the email sent out by the update../??

and this also in the FAQ

9. If I use my Rapid Rewards number for registration on multiple computers will I receive the bonus credit for each download?

You will only receive a total of two bonus credits per Member, not per installation.
