Has anyone seen this...new rumors about FP+ possibly changing

I have not used the new FP+ system yet, nor am I a "planner" type. That being said, I would rather be able to book only 2 FP's in advance, then grab new FP's in a similar fashion to the old system on a first come, first serve basis one at a time. Disney could do this by making only 50% of the day's FP's available in advance and releasing the rest when the park opens. For example, for the time frame of 13:00-14:00 at Space Mountain, Disney has approximately 100 FP's available. They release 50 in advance and allow 50 more to be booked that day. Those numbers may not be accurate, but I think you get the idea. I highly doubt Disney will do it this way, but I think it would allow people to "vacation" again and go with the flow. This would also allow park hoppers to set up FP's in MK for the evening in advance, and head to, say, DHS in the morning and still grab some FP's in both parks. But then again, who am I and what do I know? :confused3

I think we are booking our trip for eary Aug. and hoping they have THIS REVAMPED BY THEN. I like the idea of being able to schedule a few of the headliners but I don't like the tiering and the max. amout of 3 per day.

As much as I moaned about the new FP+ system to my family as I was making our plans 60+ days ago, I can appreciate what Disney is trying to do and the complexity of it. I don't think they're trying to toy with or annoy anyone. Aside from resort guests who get to preschedule everything, they also have to consider all the non-resort guests who are using the kiosks. Imagine how ticked people would be if they were first in line at a kiosk in the morning and still couldn't get the one FP they wanted? I don't like the 3-pass limit, especially since we're accustomed to being able to get more by going in the low season, but I can understand why they're doing it. They also added more FP attractions, which is a big help too. And as much as I'd like to use all 3 of my HS FPs on TSMM, I can also appreciate why that wouldn't work. I don't envy the team who had to crunch the numbers and try to make it all work. But while we were there, it did indeed work. FP lines were no longer than ususal. Times were more flexible than ever (I wasn't stuck with what was available when I walked up to a FP machine like before), and I could make changes on the fly, which I did often. I think it would be an added bonus if there was the ability to get "leftovers." As someone else said, it's better than nothing. And the idea of paying for additional FPs - HATE it. This would be a very bad idea IMO - both for perception of Disney's greed, the age old have/have-not gripes, and the temptation to eventually make the whole system a pay system. I wouldn't want to open that gate.

I don't hate the idea of paying for extra FP at all. In fact, I'd jump at the chance.

Disney already divides people into the haves/have nots - at the moment, you get better access to the FP+ system if you're staying onsite.

Not to mention, those of us who "have" can afford the Disney vacation in the first place - where the "have nots" can't.

Universal charges for front of the line access, and I don't see everyone complaining about their greed.

People (non-resort guests obviously) are already complaining about the preference given to Disney resort guests with the new FP+ system. It's creating a polarity. Charging would further that polarity. For me, it's sort of a matter of principle and nickel and diming. In the cruise industry, you used to be able to get ice cream as part of your trip, and all dining was included. Now there are soda cards, premium ice cream shops, premium dining, etc. And they've got plenty of flack for the nickel and diming. I think the beauty of Disney's FP system is that it's free (so to speak). People are already paying a good amount just to enter the gates, plus all the merchandising and inflated dining prices ... pay-to-ride would be a BIG problem to me. I wouldn't consider myself a "have not" but I'd still be ticked off.

As for Universal, I've never stood in a long line at Universal with the exception of WWOHP, and even that wasn't bad, but that's because we go during low season. I would NOT pay their premium to avoid the lines. I think that goes too far. Just my 2 cents.

They've created a mess, now it's time to clean it up. We already pay for attractions, that we never experience. Just give us the option to pay for "extra" FP. The ones, that used to be "free". Forget this single pay, one size fits all. I want a la cart and I doubt, that I'm the only one.

No more manipulations or goofing off; Disney needs to move on and end this game.

No Kidding - and it just reminds me of the whole "E" ticket mess, why are they going back to that? Tiering is just hiding the fact there are "E" tickets

personally I'd like to see one of the following scenarios:

the 'rolling' 3 FP that has been mentioned where you can book 3 and once you use 1 you can add 1

or

the 4/2 split - basically you can prebook 4 and once you are down to your last one you can add 1 so you have 2 at all times

or

no prebook...have the same rules as FP-, just with the convenience of electronics, apps, etc...to avoid trekking across the park for paper FP's and the flexibility of changing FP's on the fly....I do realize this option will NEVER happen but in reality should have been phase 1 for the next gen system.

and no matter what allotment they land on, get rid of tiering...or at least appear to get rid of it...if I want to do space mtn 3x then just force me to spread out the times if need be but don't deny me my 'right' to free choice

Universal's system is FAR superior to Disney's FP and always has been. If you stay in a Universal resort, you get front-of-the-line privileges automatically. And guess what?? It costs FAR less to stay in Universal's top resort (Portofino) the week before Easter than it does in any of the Disney "deluxe" resorts. That is why people aren't complaining about Universal's system - because it works and you can get it with no upcharge by staying at their hotels and still save money over the cost of a Disney resort.
Also, you can use it without limit except for the HP ride. No worries about 3 per day; no booking 60 days in advance; no tiering; no worries about park hopping.
Bottom line -Universal's system is better. Was better in comparison to legacy FP and is FAR better as compared to Disney's mess of FP+

Universal's system would never work at WDW...There are far too many hotel rooms on property.

as a certain cm has told me.............. the average guest used three fast passes per day.just a starting point. the entire system is in TESTING. you are going to see changes and more changes they are going to be testing a lot of different things........... no need to get excited. :thumbsup2
fill out the surveys, give your op. to he proper cm. yelling at the kid selling balloons cant help you. may make you feel better but the only cms that can do anything for you is the cms whos job it is to collect the info.

Universal knows this and that's part of the reason their new "value" resorts don't come with that perk.

My experience with Universal's system is limited but here's what I experienced last year ... We had a ticketing issue that we needed to get in line at the service counter for. The line was long and getting longer. People were getting REALLY huffy. I'm just not like that, but I do have to say it was annoying. They had only two windows open to deal with the long line. We waited for over an hour and a half. When we finally got to the window, the gentleman was very nice and offered us free express passes to compensate for our lost park time. In actuality, the only things we needed or wanted to use them for were excluded. Nothing else had any line at all. While Universal and Disney are competitors, they're very different in many ways. Disney resorts are a cut above everyone else if you value cleanliness, theming, and service. I like Universal and WDW both but I couldn't spend a week at Universal. I can't get by with less than a week at Disney. Anyway, I don't think the express or FP system is a one-size fits all theme parks proposition. Despite my initial reservations, it worked pretty well when we were there and I have faith that they'll make further improvements if they can.

Can any one tell me which rides, shows, fireworks, and parades for each park are Tier level one? I am 3 weeks out of planing our FP+ and I swear I feel like I am studing for a test or something. This is all so confussing for a Newbie. UGGGGGG!!!!!!!!
