Has anyone seen NYE fireworks from CR-if we can't get into MK?

Just wondering if the crowds are too much or we can't get back in to MK, has anyone watched fireworks from CR? We will be staying here for NYE. Also when MK gets closed before midnight due to crowds and is still open to 3 or 4 am, (or so I've heard), can you get into MK after midnight??? :confused3 :listen:

Unless you have ressies for California Grill, there is better viewing from beach at the Poly or even the TTC.

If they do close MK due to high crowds, yes, they do gradually re-open if the crowd thins.

Thanks. I guess if we can't get in before midnight, maybe we can try about 1:00 am or so.

My family & I when staying at the Contemporary for New Years has always been lucky to have a Magic Kingdom view. Well we saw the whole fireworks show over the Magic Kingdom & Grand Floridian. So that is another way to view from the Contemporary.

It may be different this year, but when we were there for NYE last, the Cali Grill had a special party for NYE. Oh, sure it was open to anyone - anyone with $350 to spend on dinner, that is. So watching from there isn't really an option, unless, as I said, they have changed that.

As someone said, if you have an MK view and are staying there, you are fine...in fact, I thought it was better on our NYE stay--we watched the fireworks from our balcony, heard them on the TV behind us on ABC, and then went to bed...no crowds, no annoying squeaking of those horns they pass out....it was awesome.
If you are not staying there the Poly beach is probably a better bet. But remember the other parks have fireworks at midnight as well, and have much more room than MK.

Actually I think watching it from a resort beach, or even the Ferry Landing, is a better view than in the park for the NYE show and July 4 show. In the park, you can't get the full grasp of the perimeter fireworks. From the beaches or ferry landing, you can literally see every single firework!

There's a deck on the fourth floor of the Contemporary where you can watch the fireworks. They even pipe in the music. Just ask any CM working at the Grand Canyon Concourse how to get to the deck.

The problem with viewing New Years fireworks from there is, you can not see the ones over the Grand Floridian if you are standing in the back, so it's best to get a spot there at least an hour before 12:00 AM, or even earlier.
