Has anyone seen Monster House yet?

If so, what did you think? Is it ok for a 6 year old? My local paper says it is scary for little ones, but didn't specify what ages it was good for.

My kids aren't typically afraid of movies. Nightmare Before Christmas and the Corpse Bride are couple of their favorites...but I want to be sure it's not too intense for them.

It's something else having "Goths" at 4 and 6 y/o. LOL...

We took my four-year-old niece today. She also love the Corpse Bride, but found Monster House intense. She hid her eyes in more than a few spots, although she never asked to leave (which we would have done). Afterward, she said she liked it though, so maybe she likes to be scared.

We went this morning at 11 and saw Monster House. It was okay. There were children of all ages in there and no one left that I saw. The movie was just okay thiugh. The 2 main characters reminded me of Beaver Cleaver and Larry Mondelo though!
Just goofy and the movie is silly. It will probably be on video by Labor Day.

That sounds like my kids! Thanks for answering.

We just got back. It wasn't bad. It was a kind of scary action movie. There were some scenes that were very intense but no one left and I didn't hear and screaming/crying kids. I probably wouldn't take a small child who was prone to nightmares, was afraid of "monsters in the closet" and that sort of thing. It would probably spook them even though it has a happy ending.

I just back from seeing the 5:30 show today and I thought it was just ok. My twin boys are celebrating their 9th birthday and wanted to see it. I thought it might be scary for some kids but both my boys were fine with it. It really depends on the child and how good they are with scary stuff. It did have some scary moments, IMO. My one son who is autistic, had a hard time sitting still through it, but my other son seemed to enjoy it. I wouldn't want to see it again but that's just me. My family found Cars to be the best all a round family movie so far this summer and my boys have seen that 4 times and can't wait for the dvd to come out. It was my favorite movie as well.

I haven't seen it, but DH and DS went to a preview of it about a month ago...DS is 4 and wasn't at all scared. As a matter of fact, the reason they got to go to the preview is because free tickets were given to his PRE-K class.

And DS wants to see it again now that it is out in general release, so to a kid at least it must be good.

DD (8yrs old) and I went last night - ugh! Another disppointment. It was intense. It was scary. It was boring. :scared: She did care for it at all.
