Have a couple of her CD's ... and generally seems not too high adventure... but wondering if anyone has direct experience or thoughts on her live shows, and if it would be ok for DD.

Promise to not take her to the Warped Tour next Summer... haha!
Now THAT is a people watching event, for certain!!

Boy, no clue about that at all SSB......I'm not even sure I've heard any of her (it IS a "her" right? LOL) music!

My next door neighbors seem to have some opinions of her music thought.......we keep finding Jewel CD's in our yard and on our patio. Seems they're using them like a frisbee, shooting them into our yard from the kids bedroom windows.

Remember though, these ARE my hillbilly neighbors so I'd take their opinion with a bucket of salt. *a bit more than a grain of salt, eh?*

I really like her music..... she usually does a lot of 'folk' type music.

However, her latest CD was a bit of a departure for her. I think that she's trying to appeal to the younger audience (maybe like your DD).

I hope that this helps you out........

Wow! Jewel! Is she still singing?

DS had such a crush on her a few years back that he named his parakeet after her - I believe in the mid-90's - must be close to ten years now. She was quite a young singer back then. Trying to remember if she was older or younger than DS but my memory fails me.

We still have her namesake.

I often wondered what happened to her. After naming the parakeet Jewel, he then seemed to give her up and developed a crush on Buffy (yeah, the Vampire Slayer gal) . Jewel was his computer wallpaper for just a short time while Buffy was on it for years.

Sorry, I'm no help. If son was home, I would ask him but its Friday night and he ain't around.

I have never been to one of her concerts, but she seems as wholesome as they come nowadays.

I really like her. I don't buy CDs much, but I bought one of hers.

I've only seen her perform at the President's Honor performance and she was spectacular. I think she's pretty tame and you shouldn't worry at all.

BTW, I met her at the station and she is a little doll!

Can't give you any direct advice - but as the mother of an 8 & 10 yr old, I would search the net to see if there is a web site - both offical & unoffical.
It might provide some insight.

Randall, I'm sure your dd hears worse things on the bus than she will at a Jewel concert. Take her and have a great time. You're one cool dad! :cool2:

I have never seen Jewel live but I am a big fan and have all her cd's. There is only one song that had a bad word and it's bleeped on the cd. It's on her new cd, said once (but it is the big F). But that's it. Good luck deciding! Wish she was coming here, I'd be first in line! ;)

From what I've heard and seen of Jewel, I think your DD would be fine attending one of her concerts!

I know she had somewhat of a 'makeover' not too long ago, not sure why. Maybe it was to make her more competitive with Spears and Aguilara?

Let us know what you think if you take her! :wave2:

I have been to her concerts and they are great. Very tame. She plays her guitar and sings and there is no dancing or anything. At the end of her concert she comes back out to yodel and read from her poetry book.

Wowsa... thanks for all of the advice, sounds like it could be a very good thing.

To earlier comments about her "still being around"... surely must still be, as able to command ticket prices around $50!!!

Liz Phair plays not too long before her, and only $20.
