David Copperfield is coming to town in May and I was thinking of taking my DS (8). DS is big into magic and illusion and I was wondering if anyone has seen one of his shows and if you thought it would be appropriate for an almost 9 year old.

Yes, many moons ago in Philadelphia. Very entertaining, although it did get a bit "adult oriented". Nothing graphic, just alot of inuendos...

We saw him in Boston a few years ago. It was a very entertaining show, very visual. There was some innuendo, as Cantw8 said, but nothing horribly or offensive. I really enjoyed it. :)

I think he would like it! I saw him in Philly also quite a few years ago and we were amazed. He even was standing right next to us when he did his trick with the rose....we still can't figure it out, we watched every move!!! If you can get good seats that would be even better!

I rec'd tickets for my BD a couple yrs ago and saw him in DC. His show was great and left us totally amazed with 'how'd he do that? There were quite a few children there, and I would highly recommend it for a 8 yo. I think he'll love it!!! I know we did!!! :goodvibes

I've seen him twice. I love the shows and so did my girls. Last time Brittany got to be chosen to be onstage with him.

I saw him when I was 9 or 10. I don't remember it that much since it was a long time ago but I remember being completely amazed. When I was little I wanted to be a magician :teeth: and David Copperfield was my favorite! I really enjoyed his performance and highly recommend going to see him.

::yes:: Same here with the innuendos. We've seen him twice. First show was wonderful!! AMAZING!!! Second one was so so. It seemed very short and his energy level seemed a little low. He seemed to be relying on a lot of assistants, videos, etc... more than he did the first time. Maybe he wasn't feeling well? :( Loved the duck routine though! :p Hilarious!

Hey there!

We took the kids when they were your son's age. They LOVED it!! We LOVED it! Mr. Copperfield keeps the show moving all the time... never a dull moment. We told the kids before we went in that they had to keep their eyes open and pay close attention as this was true magic.
The show was awesome.. and we were awed.
Have a great time! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Saw him years ago - 15 to 20 years ago in Kingston NY. Met him what beautiful eyes and very nice. I have his autograph on a $1.00 bill. I thought it was a great show. Would love to see him again. Is he touring?

We just saw him in Oct at the Pasadena Civic Center! More than half the audience was under 18 so I'd say it's something many people felt comfortable brining their children to. I don't recall anything offensive or questionable. We loved the show and had a great time!!

Yes!!! Awesome!!! He popped up right next to me during one of his "disappearing" routines!

I saw him perform about 10 years ago. The show was fabulous and appropriate for all ages. Even though I was seated close to the stage his performance was flawless. It really made you wonder how he does it.

He did pop up a couple rows behind me, who knows how.

That's just how I feel. We were on the first row and I just can't believe how cool it was! I would take your son and enjoy!

Not sure if he is touring or not, just saw the ad in our local paper that he would be in town for two shows in May.

Thanks for all of your inputs, I really appreciate them.

Yes--twice...it is fantastic...though the 2nd time around, which was several years later...seemed to have duplicates and we had seen his specials on tv so we weren't as wowed as the first time. But it is worth EVERY penny to go :)

I saw him perform at Busch Gardens Williamsburg about 26 yrs ago, when he was still a young nobody. He was amazing! That's all I can say. Even then his show was thrilling and awesome. It is no surprise to me that he went on to be rich & famous.
