Has anyone screened in their deck with a do-it-yourself kit?

I can't take the sun and the bugs LOVE dh, so we really want to screen in the deck. Has anyone done this with one of those kits? Tell me about your experience! Thanks.

We have a screened porch but didn't do it ourselves. Looking at it though, it doesn't look like it was difficult to do. The floor is just like you'd find on a deck, and one wall and half of another are part of the house. The rest is all screen, floor to ceiling. Each section looks like the size of a screen door and they are screwed onto the wooden posts that go up to the ceiling, so if we wanted to, we could actually remove any or all of the sections. There is a screen door that goes out to a small landing and a set of stairs.

When we bought the house, the screened porch was a selling point for us. We LOVE it. The porch is right off our dining room, and when the weather is nice we leave it open and it really expands the living space. In the summer, we eat most of our meals on the porch. It's a great place to relax and feel like you're outside but NO BUGS or HOT SUN!! I'm starting to sound like an infomercial!

If you do a search and find a thread I posted about seeing what Maine looks like in the winter, there is a picture that shows part of our porch. It was a thread I posted on 12/9/05, and I'd link you to it, but I don't know how. It might give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. It doesn't show much of the floor, but you can see what I mean by the screened panels.

Many years ago, my Dad screened in his patio by himself. No kit, just him. He built a brick wall all around the perimeter, about 2 1/2 feet tall. He then built a wooden frame on top of the brick wall and inserted screens in it. I believe it was built in 1974, and it still stands today, perfectly. I think the only thing he's done to it since is replace torn screens once in a while.
