Has anyone required medical attention while on vacation?

I had to go to the Centra Care place (near DTD) last summer for a bug bite (which I had gotten at the beach on the way to Disney) that I started having a terrible reaction to. I went to the First Aid clinic at AK, and the nurse said I needed to get to a doctor ASAP because I had a huge welt about 9 inches long wrapping across the back of my leg where the bite was.

It was really quite tragic, because this was a short, spur-of-the-moment trip for me and DH (fiance at the time), and the visit to the urgent care and subsequent trip to the pharmacy took FIVE hours, and we only had one day at the park, which was ruined. :( Not to mention that my insurance refused to pay for it because I didn't call and get it approved before I went. :sad2:

Two years ago my then DS (4) started running a high temp. I called the desk at the GF and they gave me the option of the in-room doctor or going to a clinic nearby. At that time there was quite a wait for the in-room doctor, so they called CentraCare to come pick up me and my son. They have several locations so they called around to see which clinic was the least crowded and took us there. The doctor was friendly and efficient, and we were out of there quick. They also took us to a pharmacy to get the prescription filled and back to the hotel. Easy and quick, and luckily DS felt better by the next day.

My DD got bit by something on her thigh, it started out small but ended up the size of a pancake! We called the ambulance but before they arrived the manager from CBR was in our room. He couldn't have been more helpful and sweet. My daughter was very frightened, the paramedics suggested we go to the hospital (Celebration) They would have taken her in the ambulance but I think that would have pushed her over the edge! We took her there
in our car and got great service. Our insurance covered everything being it was an emergency room. They were concerened that it could have been a brown reclouse (sp) which is very bad, eats away at living flesh. Luckily it was not so with a weeks worth of antibiotics we were good to go.

When we arrive back in our room Mickey had left my daughter a sweet card to wish her well and 2 stuffed animals! Love that magic and that manager!

When I was a kid I always seemed to get sick or injured on trips:
1) Got something in Texas that required antibotics (can't remember what).
2) Got sun poisoning in Florida.
3) Stepped on a sea urchin in the Florida intercoastal on another visit.
4) Got stung by a jellyfish in Chesapeak Bay.

During our last night of vacation earlier this year, my eardrum burst. I'd been getting worse and worse with a head cold all week and feeling pretty miserable, but tried to guts it out and have some fun time each day but a very early bedtime every night. Finally the eardrum thing, so we called the in-room doctor. It was expensive and my insurance (Kaiser) wouldn't cover it even though they had given previous authorization. But by the time our flight left that evening, I was feeling better.
