Has anyone received a upgrade at the Contemporary?

I leave in 8 days. We're registerd for a garden wing room. I've requested a patio room, smoking. I was just wondering if they might be giving upgrades due to the renovations, and the South wing being closed. Do you think it's worth asking when I check in?

This past May I was booked for a standard wing room. Was upgraded to a water view!! Had a spectacular view of Bay Lake and the Electric Water Pageant!

it never hurts to ask, but I have been told that because of the many business travelers who stay at the contemporary during conferences upgrades can be hardert o come by than at the hotels that have fewer conference attendees.

If you ask them they really try hard to do it and for free or little and I mean a little more the new Magic kingdon view rooms are to die for, if you need to smoke take and old pop can and go to your balcony and sit smoke and watch the fireworks you sitting in front of the castle.

I was there last month and was upgraded to a water view from a standard in the wing.

We were there this past May, booked a standard wing room. Checked in and recieved via Disney Magic a tower room with MK view!!!

We did not expect one and didn't ask either. It was such a surprise, got a little weepy, CM tought I was a LITTLE nuts I think!

Ask at check in or call ahead? We leave in 2 hours (I am not even packed yet, I think I am addicted to these boards) and we are checking in tomorrow. We currently have a garden wing room but I would LOVE a tower with MK view. I don't mind paying but I think my dh would flip if I spend anymore money. I am not really excited about staying at the Contemporary but I think the tower with a MK view would really help my excitement level.

HI, WE STAYED THERE IN OCTOBER 2002-WE PAID FOR A GARDEN WING ROOM AND WAS UPGRADED TO A TOWER ROOM WITH WONDERFUL VIEW OF CASTLE-IT WAS MAGICAL-WE DID NOT KNOW WE WERE UPGRADED UNTIL WE CHECKED IN AND WERE GIVEN OUR ROOM ASSIGNMENT. GOOD LUCK... LISA

I went in 2003 and had a room booked for the wing. Asked about an upgrade and they said we could have one, but it would be an extra $400. We took it because I just couldnt say no. It was for a MK view room on 11th floor. That was in April 2003. My sister and her family went in early December of 2003 also, and booked a wing room and were given a FREE upgrade to a MK tower room. Sooooo Lucky!! I think it might have had something to do with it not being as crowded when they went. Heres hoping you get a free upgrade!!

Mine was given to me before I could ask for one. But, I had every intention of asking for one so, this was a nice surprise. I was put at the very end of the north wing. I was looking for some peace and quiet and got it. The part of the lake I was facing was not used much so, there was never any boat sounds. I was very happy with the location, but it was the farthest away from every thing. Not something most people would enjoy.
