So I have "addonitis"... I thought I was content with my small 100 points at AKL... It works perfectly for us... or so I thought... I keep thinking about a small 50 point add on.

AKL is $104 per point right now... ok for the next 2 weeks-ish....

My DH keeps going on and on and ON about how much he loved the Boardwalk and Beach Club when we visited the resorts.

I know they are "sold out" but I talked to my guide today and mentioned that I was interested in points at those resorts, and she said they would be $104 per point....and of course I think that involves a waiting list, which is fine because I am not in a hurry.

I can't decide whether to make it a total of 150 at AKL or 100 at AKL and 50 at BCV/BWV. I would come to the same total, and pay the same price...

Has anyone purchased through Disney at either resort lately? And how long did you wait?

I purchased BCV through Disney in the last month.

I had called to be placed on the waitlist as we wanted BCV as our home resort. My guide said they had one master contract available and I snagged it!!

We added on 25 BCV points to our contract in December. We have a March UY, and they were in our account within 2 days of the phone call.

How would you use the 50 points? Keep in mind that you get the AKL home resort booking advantage only with the points you own at AKL. You'd have to wait for the 7 month window to open if you wanted to use the 50 BCV or 50 BWV points for a stay at the AKL

50 points at BCV would get you 4 week nights each year - you'd have to visit BCV every other year or every third year to be able to book at the 11 month window there. You could get up to 5 weeknights at the BWV if you booked standard view (and you'd definitely need the 11 month window to be sure of getting SV rooms).

Anyway, many members do make good use of small add on contracts. Just want you to be aware that there will be some extra time and effort involved in managing & booking vacations two home resorts.

I just want to add an additional comment to what CarolMn had to say. Even though I own at BC, I was not one of those people who plan vacations so far in advance. I had to change my way of thinking because I had no success at getting reservations at BC in shorter time periods. So if you do not own enough BC points to book at 11 months, (if you are planning to use part of your AK points at 7 months to book at BC), you may find yourself waitlisted on your reservation and your waitlist may not come through.

Also, if you are in no hurry to get your points, you might want to check resale contracts as you will find sales for quite a bit less than the $104 Disney is selling at. We got our second BC addon much cheaper by going resale.

We have been on the BCV waitlist for almost a month, waiting for just 25 points, June UY. Our plan is to eventially have 75-100 points there, but to purchase them gradually so that it doesn't seem like such a big amount all at once (we are also hoping to add on HHI this spring through resale, somewhere in the 150 pt range). I'm waiting for Monday to speak with our guide about the $ increase and if we'll get the old price if it goes up because we're on a waitlist, if we get the points past the end of our booking window in Jan we can bank them, and anything else I can think of between now and then. I'm hoping the wait won't be forever, but I'm in no rush either.

GOOD-LUCK! We own at AKV, too, and I just want to have BCV points to feel secure that we'll always be able to get in there as DVC expands outside of WDW.

I called my guide last month and asked if BWV was available for our use year and he said yes they were available. We didn't add on but I also wanted to check about the minimum number of points for add on at the time. :cool2:

Oh I was aware that I wouldn't be able to use all 150 at an 11 month advantage, the way we thought about our planning, it would work with banking and borrowing... I knew about all the wait listing to try to use the AKL points at 7 months to finish a reservation and possibility of it not working out. We were plannning on doing some fancy smanchy mangament and banking and borrowing of the small contract! We looked at all the scenarios from about that, I really appreciate you guys thinking of that, just in case I didn't!

We aren't very fond of the resale markey or else we would go that route, but have had several terrible experiences prior to buying direct through Disney... we are just going to stick wtih the mouse for now, but thanks for the suggestion!

You have the same thinking as us... I don't want to wait for a year, but I don't mind not having the points next week either...

I am calling my guide back on Monday to see if the points at BWV and BCV will be going up to $112 as well.

We bought 50 BCV points last month (around 12/15 or so...I know I put ourselves on the waitlist on 12/4...I know I had my points--with several days to spare--by 12/20...but don't remember the exact date the W/L came through)...we have a Feb UY...the wait was less than 2 weeks.

At the time, my guide told us that Disney is "buying up all BCV contracts being offered for resale" because the wait lists were so extensive (altho they vary greatly by Use Year...but apparently the waits aren't real long because Disney is aggressively exercising its ROFR)...

Good luck!!!
