Has anyone port upgraded from Cat 9 to Cat 8?

We have a category 9, deck 2 now, and wondered what it would cost to upgrade at port to a category 8. We want a higher deck. I checked the cost to upgrade now and I'd like to compare the port upgrade cost.

Also, for those that have done this - does the luggage get all mixed up because of the room change, or arrive late? How does that work?

You can never guarantee that port upgrades will be available. If they are, they are a lot cheaper than doing it in advance...usually about 1/2 of the price. Yes, when you do a port upgrade, all your "stuff" gets messed up for the first 2-3 days. You just need to tell your room steward what your old cabin was, and he will take care of getting things moved to your new cabin.

The bottom line is that you need to book a cabin that you will be happy in. Then, if an upgrade becomes available (whether free or paid), it is a bonus.
