Has anyone not liked POP?

Listen, I'm not trying put a damper on your trip, I'm just speaking from experience. I could really hear the guy next door peeing. The walls are very thin. You can hear the people on both sides of you in their rooms. The TV, Shower, Toilet, Conversations ect.

All I know is that me and DH had stayed in the ALL Star Music and were VERY happy, so we thought the POP would be the same. It wasn't. Yes the food court is good the shop is great the grounds are very unique and fun but if quiet is factor for you, I would switch to one of the ALL Stars. The All Star movies is the newest one, but the only one I can say from experience is quiet is the ALL Star Music.

That is funny you say that dopeys biggest fan cause I remember hearing someone peeing during the middle of the night, too!

I think it is a cute resort, really if you buy one of those white noise makers you should be fine.

When we stayed at the all star sports, we never had this problem.

but the only one I can say from experience is quiet is the ALL Star Music.
We find all the values (and sometimes the mods too!) noisy. We have stayed most at music, and find it's noisy there too...those late night bathroom flushes are a pain in the ears! We have learned to make sure we don't have a connecting door in our room, since noise seems to really travel through that.
The only thing we didn't care for at Pop (and we'll stay away from court side to avoid this light), is the curtains are out from the wall, which is nice, since they close better than the other values..but the light comes in around the bottom. We were facing a well lit courtyard, and it was way too bright in our room. Oh, and the pillows were brand new, and like bolsters. I'm counting on you guys having worn them flat by the next trip.

well, reading all these reports settles it for me.. I will definitely stay in a moderate next time. stayed in POR and never had a problem with noise....

don't want to chance it....even though the email I got for $79 is very tempting.....

and btw, I am not a staunch republican as so many of you people down south think......

had either one of you been in nyc during 9/11, seen the devestation, the lives taken.... you would well appreciate what our president and republican mayor of nyc did for this country......
you have had to live through it to understand. enough said,,,all in all
I vote for whomever I think is the best candidate....
and I liked Bill Clinton as well

yep! ::yes::
Ya, that was a little hypocritical.

This is a resort board, so where did that come from? Anway...

We enjoyed our stay at Pop. We already stayed there twice and will keep going back. Just keep in mind that it is not a deluxe resort and you will be fine with this value resort. Enjoy your stay.
:) If you're going during cold season, then you might want to think about moderate or deluxe, they have hot tubs. Though the pools at WDW are heated, the water can still be a bit cold.

As much as I would love to take this on, this is not the appropriate forum. Keep it on the debate board, where it belongs, before a moderator has to get involved.

I want to thank everyone for their input on POP. We are going to be staying there tomorrow night for the first time. I don't like noisy hotel rooms, so we will definitely be bringing earplugs. I'm hoping it won't be a problem, since this is a slow time.

I stayed in the 60s section overlooking the pool for 10 days. I didn't hear a peep from my neighbors. I did hear some noise from the pool people but nothing from the rooms on either side of me.

I was here, I lived through it and I don't agree with you. I believe the mayor did what he was expected to do. It didn't matter that he was a republican. He had a job to do and he did it. I’m sure if a democratic mayor had been in office he/she would have done the same thing.

If you don't want to see the pictures and signs in DISers signatures, you can turn them off.

We stayed @ Pop for 6 nights in april and not once did we hear our neighbors. I do think we got lucky. But you can get loud neighbors any where. I also brought a little fan from home cause I need a white noise to sleep. The toliets are loud. Even my 4 year old commented on those.

Ok...Now I am scared. My Hubbie & I have reservations at the POP 12/30-1/2/05. Being NYE....I would expect to have noise later in the night....but I too wake up when the wind blows!

Anyone stayed at the POP for NYE?

What does me living in the south have to do with anything? Actually I live in a very Republican area, even my hubby is Republican!

And I take offense to your comments regarding 9/11. Are you implying I don't understand the devastation, lives taken just because I'm not voting for Bush? UH?

I don't care to debate this anymore, I was called upon and I responded.

Agreed.

pop is great!! .. we went in february and we are going back in december..we cant wait!!..i mean it is a value resort....not a moderate..so if your expecting moderate ammenties etc go moderate..but i can tell you that we had not one problem there...everyone was pleasant...we overlooked the hippie dippie pool and there wasnt alot of noise...i didnt hear my neighbors.....it is a very upbeat fun resort......you cant help but dance when your outside and hear the music playing!!!

You can say that again. When we stayed at the Polynesian last year, we had a toddler next door that woke up every morning at 6 AM with non-stop crying and screaming to get out of the crib. It went on for a loooooooong time. ::crazy2: She would scream and cry, "UPPY! UPPY! UUUUPPYYYY!!!!!" *Cry, scream, cry*..... When the parents got up, they had booming loud voices also. :hyper: It must be hereditary...lol

I knew the names of everyone in the family, they talked so loud. :hyper2: The dad sounded like Papa Bear. He didn't exactly talk, it was more like a loud growl. I couldn't decide if I prefered when Amanda was in the crib screaming for an hour and a half, or on the loose banging on walls and the kicking into the door that separated our rooms. .:headache: She had two siblings also.

I know it wouldn't have bothered me as much if my DGS didn't spend the first 12 hours at Disney in the Celebration ER and some of the trip being sick. You can't control toddlers like Amanda, but DGS needed his sleep to get well and our neighbors woke us up like this every morning. I did put a bath towel under the adjoining door the following mornings, which helped a bit. In the end, I took great pleasure in the fact that Amanda wasn't mine.
lol.gif

Noisy neighbors sure aren't confined to value resorts, though I have heard some reports indicating it may be more common there due to the thinner walls.
That said, we are looking forward to staying at Pop for our first night. It looks like a lot of fun! :teeth:

Tink:

When it comes to hotels, my family is VERY BASIC. As long as we get a quality conditioned room and not have any *huge* problems, we are satisfied. We THOUGHT none of that would happen at the Grand Floridian, well did we guess wrong! On the other hand, Pop Century was GREAT! It just goes to show that it just depends on the type of people (not saying in a negative way). We stayed 5 nights in the 50's section facing Hourglass Lake and we couldn't have asked for a BETTER ROOM! Close to the main building yet NO NOISE and a GREAT open view!!!

We will DEFINETLY stay here in the future and reccommend it to everyone!

I thought the little kiddie pool there was really neat. It was like zero depth in a large circle with spraying large balls the kids could sit on. I wonder why I never see any pics of this? If my youngest hadn't taken off from the main pool and ran back that way we would never have known it existed. Just a tip for anyone with small ones.

We have stayed at POP twice this year with a stay at ASmusic i between. This is hard for me to say because I fell in love with POP. I would not have even looked twice at the other values ever again except for the noise. I prefer everything at POP to All Stars (except maybe the parking) but man the pipes the people next door, The people in the pool, the maintenance poeple working onthe poool. All of it drove me crazy. The First time. Prefered room 3rd floor right between hippy dippy and kiddie pool. The second time after experienceing a very quiet uneventful room at ASMusic was better. We were 4th floor 50 B. Quieter from outside noise (except for toilets and baths). Would never ask for prefered room. other buildings like 50s AB are closer to front than the walk we had at preferred. So this december we booked POP again due to the football and kiddie cheerleaders of POP Warner coming into all the allstars. I am so torn. I want to savethe$$ and use it on a christmas pary etc but I am considering a gasp... moderate. However, I do want the frozen coke and cheescake. Once again, my good sense is defeated by cheesecake. oh well POP it is.
