Has anyone made their own Mad Hatter costume?

My son wants to be the Mad Hatter, my daughter is going to be Alice, and my niece the Queen of Hearts. I don't really want to pay $50 for the Mad Hatter stuff I'm finding, since it doesn't even include pants. Has anyone made their own? Can you share pics?

My niece was the Mad Hatter last year and her costume was adorable. I can't post a pic, her Mom wouldn't be okay with that. They got the hat and wig, I'm not sure where. The clothes they put together with things from the thrift store.

Hmm, maybe I can talk my ds into letting you borrow his real Mad Hatter Hat from Disney (the green one). You could pick it up at the bowling alley some sat.

He's not home right now so I think he still might have it buried in the room somewhere.

That is sooo nice of you!!! But we are going to a theme park for a halloween event, and I would hate for my "forgetful" son to lose it somewhere!!
