I Have to try this recipe this year!

Monster Cookies Recipe courtesy Donna Haney as adapted by Paula Deen

3 eggs
1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 12-ounce jar creamy peanut butter
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup multi-colored chocolate candies
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup raisins, optional
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or nonstick baking mats.
In a very large mixing bowl, combine the eggs and sugars. Mix well. Add the salt, vanilla, peanut butter, and butter. Mix well. Stir in the chocolate candies, chocolate chips, raisins, if using, baking soda, and oatmeal. Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Let stand for about 3 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool. When cool, store in large resealable plastic bags.

I have a very similar recipe called Collassal Cookies- Oatmeal, PB, and Chocolate chips. They are one of the best cookies I've had, and I've had many! It's like having the best of all cookies all rolled into one!

I saw this show about a week ago and wanted to go back and find the recipe. Thanks so much for posting it!!!!

I'll be making them on the 21st, so if anyone makes them sooner, let me know. Thinking of putting in cranberries instead of raisins.

One major step was left out of this recipe. After all the cookies are baked and cooled, just apply directly to the hips! :thumbsup2

(thanks again for the great recipe -- this is a "must try"!)

Does that mean M & M's?

A friend of mine made these last week...she said that they were great, but it was a pretty big batch!

That is a scaled down version of the Monster Cookie recipe I used to make. It called for 12 cups of Oatmeal and you used an ice cream scoop to place them on a cookie sheet. They were HUGE, but yummy.

We make these every year at our church's Cookie Bazaar and they are quite a hit. We use the regular size M&M's - the red and green ones for Christmas. However, I bet it would be easier to use the smaller ones. The bigger ones sometimes want to fall off or even break off easier from the cookie.

Enjoy!

I used to work with a lady who made a ton of these every year for all of us in the office. She would spend the entire Thanksgiving weekend making them, and it would take us about a day to gobble them all up. They were sooooo good. Everytime someone mentions Monster cookies it reminds me of her. She passed away a few years back. But Monster cookies will always be hers.

Yes the chocolate chips as mini m and m's works great! We also used gum drops after the cookies came out before totally cooled to let them melt just enough to stick. Wonderful.

I haven't made monster cookies in probably 10 yrs. the recipe is in an old Southern Living Cookbook. I've had the cookbook 18 yrs. When I saw the show I couldn't believe how long it has been since I've made them. I don't think I've made them since we've been in this house. I always left out the raisins and doubled the chocolate chips.

DD saw the show and want me to make them with dark chocolate chips and dark chocolate M&Ms

Dang that is a lot of peanut butter! They sound good though.

Anyone ever make them without peanut butter or chocolate chips?
I want to make them with my students, but one can't have peanut butter.

I also want to make a batch with my son, niece, and nephew but niece can't have chocolate.
