Has anyone let their hs grads use their DVC?

I remember my graduation getaway to the shore for a week. I know what I did. Their is less trouble to get into at Disney in my opinion!!! She obviously loves Disney she has been breed that way (haha) so they are going to the parks and dinners. Pleasure Island.

You know your child, what she has tried to get away with over the past year and she knows what cansequences will be if things get out of hand.

My take on it is that if you're even considering letting your daughter go alone to WDW, then she's probably safe to go. If you really thought she was the type to get in trouble you wouldn't even consider giving her that kind of freedom.

The main concern my parent's had at this age was not about my behavior, but more was I going somewhere we could have fun and be safe too.

Exactly...the question in my mind isn't what my DD would "try to get away with" or lack of trust. It's safety and being able to consistently make adult decisions regardless of what's going on around her. Two completely different issues.

Out of highschool my friends and I went (were talking quite a few years ago). It was good harmless fun and would not hesitate to let my kids go after graduating from highschool. I will probably go to and just stay somewhere else just incase they should need something (lol).

My BIL has sent his high school seniors to WDW, no problems. We have promised DD now 13 that she can go with her friends for a graduation present. We cover room. She covers parks & food. She has a budget in place and is saving. When she found out about Magical Express, she was able to move that money to the snacks & souviners part of the budget.
Check back with me in 4 years.

I send my cousin when she graduated from HS. She took her older half sister.

they had a great trip!!!

We've told DS & DD we'd book a DVC studio for them & 1 friend at high school graduation. DS graduates 2009 and DD 2010. We'll book them on ME or a towncar and know that WDW cards pretty strict for alcohol.

When DD was a freshman in college, she and 5 girls headed for Florida to stay with some friends. I couldn't convince her that this wasn't a good idea, but on the second night I got a phone call from her. There were 15 kids in a room at the Holiday Inn in Miami, and she was grossed out by all those bodies and no space! I called WDW, and they contacted the DVC's to check for availability. A 1/2 hour later BW had a studio for her, and they agreed to deduct my points account if I left a credit card, just in case. I could have kissed them! DD and 2 friends spent the week with the luxury of their own bathroom. :) Believe it or not, two friends opted to stay in Miami! :scared1:

Two years ago, I allowed my son and 3 friends to have 5 nights at WDW for HS graduation. I was working and did not go. He chose OKW for the space of the two bedroom. He has grown up going to WDW, knows his way around very well, and two of the boys had been with us twice before. I am sure they didn't always act like altar boys while there, but they had a blast and made it home safely. Three of them are going back again this May, this time accompanied by some others, including girls. He's almost 21 now, makes good grades and works, so I pretty much trust his judgment. I just think he needs his own points since he wants some of mine every year!!

Good point! Thanks for all the replies everyone. It's nice to see also that so many others have done this or plan on doing this as well. I wish I was so lucky when I was their age. Hope they appreciate it. :sunny:

DS has already asked for a trip like this for his graduation....................he's only 12 now!!
I said it definately depends............one, that he graduate! And two, who his friends are! I won't send a bunch of hooligans down to wreak havoc on the resort........

don't you love it when the kids appreciate your points as much as you do....

:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

hey your son gets a A+ from me.... :wizard: :woohoo:

I too have promised my daughters a week at BCV with friends when they graduate. Of course, I also told them I would be down the hall if they need anything! :)

That's what we did with my teenage sons. We rented them a studio at BCV's and my husband and I treated ourselves to concierge stay at the Yacht club (hey I lasted through 3 teenagers at the same time, I deserved a treat too! :teeth: ) I felt a little better being close.
Good luck

DS 19 just took three buddies to SSR to play golf over break for four days - they had a ball! Played golf all day - hit the parks at night. Already talking about hitting me up for next year! :wizard:

I havent read all the posts, but I let my boys 21 and 20 and 3 friends use DVC
A 2 BR at OKW!!!
If we;d lived closer and airfare had not been an issues I would have let them use it as a graduation gift
They have been going to OKW for years.

Well, yes!!! We let our daughter and her girlfriend spend a week at OKW. But, we were there just before she was coming (we were leaving) and asked the Bell Hops if they would please keep an eye on them as we were just a bit nervous about this.......They were so great!!! They kept giving them rides back to their villa and were a lot of fun!!! Of course, we never mentioned that to her.......I guess DD and her GF really must of thought that they were just hot!!!!!!!!! They told us about the attention they received!!!!!!! ;)

WOW - when I graduated high school all I got was a party! :wizard:

my DD will be 17 when she graduates, I think she has traveled enough that I would not have problems of her going without us, but it does depend on who shes going with!

This is happening for us next year.
I am THRILLED that they are planning DW instead of some place like Cancun!
But, I will tag along with another mother just because we will have girls and boys traveling together. If it was just my DS with his buddies, I'd say "have fun" and send him on his way.

I feel the same way about being 'thrilled' that it's not the beach. My oldest daugther and 2 friends did an OKW 1 bedroom combined with a few days at Clearwater beach. They were fine. It was the senior trip to Ocean City in Maryland that I had to worry about....

My son's senior trip (school sponsored) included Orlando and a short bahamas cruise, which coincided with an already booked DVC family trip. My son chose to stick with family and meet up with his buddies at Universal during the trip's Orlando part. He felt he had the best - dining at Disney and deluxe rooms plus time spent with friends, versus Day's Inn or whatever on International Drive. He's obviously spoiled.

My youngest is yet to come, but there is no doubt she will choose Disney.

I offered this to my son who is graduation this year, he was all for it but sadly the nice group of boys who he usually hangs with, just could not come up with the air fare and food money, so I told him when he wants it again, it's his. I have no fear of letting him do this, what I fear more is this: (once he does this a few times)

I just think he needs his own points since he wants some of mine every year!!

I, too have promised some DVC points for high school graduation!!! I still have 3 years before I have to keep my promise!! I don't think I would be worried about her getting around as she is a very experienced "Disney" traveller!! I just wouldn't let her rent a car!! Disney transportation is a must........

Oh.........and she thinks she is getting a Grand Villa!!! She has another thing coming!! LOL!
