My mom had gastric bypass done. It was really rough. She had such a hard time figuring out what she could/couldn't eat, the amounts, and how she chewed. Her throwing up was a typically occurance during our meals. She couldn't eat cheese at all, alcohol went straight to her head, and if she had too much sugar, she'd be in the bathroom.
One night, she was standing on the scale in the bathroom, complaining about how her skin sagged after losing over 160 lbs. and, at the time, I was about 175 lbs. I stated to her that she essentially lost me in weight. It seemed to really surprise her and she had a 5'6 representation of how much she lost.
I hope people do not look at this as a quick fix. Your life will not be perfect, happy, or better then it is now. My mom had many emotional problems before the surgery and it started to spiral out of control towards the end of her life (roughly 1.5 years after the operation).
