has anyone here ever been able to use a cast member discount?

I have a relative that works at WDW so I may be able to get a discount for our room through her.
I was wondering if anyone else has done this and does that mean we will not be able to request a room location?

We have a relative who's a cast member and we got a resort discount through her in July. The cast member has to make the reservation, by the way. I requested a room in a specific building at our resort and got exactly what I requested. We were treated exactly like guests paying the full price.

3 Years ago when I was a CM I was able to book 2 rooms (1 for my fam and 1for my parents)at POFQ and had no problem getting the rooms we requested. We had a wonderful location with connecting rooms right next to the pool.

Does anyone know if you can get CM discount on rooms for Xmas? Our son is down there right now for College internship. We would like to go down and be there for xmas day. We were looking to go Dec.22-28. Keep asking son to look into this but he is kind of lacks-a-dazy about this.

I know a mom who has recently gotten the discount over Christmas with her CP daughter's discount -

I am going to try for one in a few weeks but not for the holidays. I will say that my daughter says the site is pretty hard to navigate but she is figuring it out - might be your son feels the same way about it.

Is he loving it? Chloe is in attractions at Epcot and is really enjoying it!

Here's a question to your that use the CM discount. It seems to be a flat 50% off the rack room rate.... do you know if you can add the meal plan? We are looking at a family reunion type deal and having hte meal plan would be the easiest I think....

I'm trying to do the math, but I guess I need to call Disney to actually see what the Visa Fall Discount with the DDP added would be versus using the CM discount on a room and having to get tickets and pay OOP for food.

If he stays in the room with you, you get the 50% off. If he just books you a family discounted room (not staying with you), you can only get the 40% or 25% rooms. The rooms go quickly and he needs to book it himself through the Disney website/hub. If the 40% discounted rooms are gone, that leaves only the 25% discounted rooms. He must show his ID when you checkin, or he can stop by earlier and just show his ID before you check in. You can not book the room yourself, only he can do that. There are only a certain number of rooms available under each discount code, once they are gone, they are gone.

I just spoke to Disney "live help". They gave me a phone # for my brother to call. He then gives them his "#" and then gives them our info.. he can get 25% off or 40%! YEAH!

That's pretty much how it works. Does he not have access to the CM website? My hubby was a CM in VA, so not FL either. He did his payroll through the Disney website and had access to all personnel stuff, so we booked our rooms via the website. Your brother does need to get on the phone and check for availability asap. (My hubsand worked for the Disney Catalog, when Disney owned the Catalog--the day it was sold to the children's place was his last day -- 8/20/05).

He can get you the discount, but he DOES have to either be with you at check-in or go to the resort and show his ID within 10 days prior to your stay. If he doesn't go & show ID your discounted rate will not be honored.

I can't say how it is for ESPN CMs, but here in FL the CM can fax their ID to the resort for the OGB (Other Guest Bedroom).
