I won a trip to Orlando off of a local radio station and received confirmation today that the hotel was the Universal Palms off of International Drive. I can't find much about it except it used to be a Hampton Inn. Has anyone stayed there or know anything about it?

Thanks!

Well, congrats on your trip! When do you go?

Can't say I've heard of this hotel.

Maybe Barry or Robin knows?

Congratulations! :bounce:

My radio station gives away trips, also and we like it when people don't come and get their prizes because after a short period of time, WE GET THEM!! So make sure you get your prize! :p

Anyway, back to the Universal Palms. I have never stayed there but passed by it many times on my last trip in January. It is on Sand Lake Road a few blocks up from I-Drive. Here's a little info on it...http://www.jhmhotels.com/hisandla.htm

Hope that helps!

Thank you for replying. I already picked up the prize packet ;) I actually have already received my confirmation from the hotel - that's how I knew what hotel we were staying at. Its 6days 5 nights. I checked the website you gave me. Thank you for the info! It's not the most expensive place in Orlando, but according to their reservation maker - it would have been $275 if we were paying out of pocket - so I guess that makes up for it not being the Animal Kingdom Lodge :p I just wanted to know a little more about the hotel since we are travelling with our 2yr old and Im pregnant.

Thanks again!

It used to be the Hampton Inn Sandlake, why it's no longer affiliated with HI, I don't know. Stayed there May 02 for 7 nights. Had a nice King room w/ fridge and micro, very clean if not new. Some of the exterior areas needed sprucing up which they were in the process of doing. Only complaint was loud groups of teens (tour groups) on the weekend nights.
