this is my first time flying to disney and was wondering if there was a service that you can have your disney purchases shipped to your home directly to avoid the extra weight in your baggage onboard the plane? please respond

Yep, on our honeymoon, and this was after buying another piece of luggage to get all the stuff home too. :rolleyes1

I have had something I bought in a shop in MK shipped home. It was only one item and the shop did it directly. I am sure you could ask each shop and they could tell you.

Do that all the time. Tell the CM before they ring it up. No tax on items shipped out of state so that helps offset the shipping charges. We usually go to Downtown Disney for shopping and send a bunch of stuff home from the World of Disney Store that way.

Works great and it's fun to get a little care package from Mickey a week or so after you get home. :earsboy:

We ship everything we buy home. Not having to pay tax is fantastic, as I buy a lot of art when we're there. It's also fun to receive your stuff after you're home - the magic just keeps on being delivered!. If you're trip is longer, be careful about sending art or expensive items. They're shipped FedEx and require a signature upon delivery. If you won't be home within three or four days of your purchase being shipped, ship it to someone else's home so he/she can sign for it.

I just shipped home a beautiful chip and dip bowl that I purchased in the Mexican pavilion. Dh bought 2 mugs at a store in the AK and shipped them home. I almost killed him for that though!! We had room in our luggage for 2 mugs! Instead, he paid to have them shipped. They are now the most expensive coffee mugs we own.

Good question tarap948!!! I want to make sure I understand this correctly so I can do it for our upcoming trip in June. I just tell the CM before he/she rings up my purchase that I want to ship it home and that's it? I am forever buying way too much in the World of Disney and would love to have it shipped as opposed to trying to cram it in our luggage!!! I too have bought additional luggage on several trips just to get our purchases home. Thanks so much for any info!!!

PS
My son will so happy to know he doesn't have to sit on my luggage anymore so I can get it closed!!!

I ship home stuff all the time. Because they take off the sales tax, the shipping charge worked out to be a nominal fee. That small extra charge was worth not having to cram stuff in my luggage. :teeth:

Yep! We have done that too! And another nice thing is, if it gets broken in transit you are covered.

Works like a charm! :cool1:

Make sure you tell the CM before your purchase is rung up because it is against Florida law to remove sales tax from the purchase after it has been applied. The transaction has to be voided if the sales tax is applied in order to remove it and a new transaction must be started.

We do this all of the time & it's so nice to not have to carry all the stuff in our luggage on the plane. All of our items have arrived safe & secure and we haven't had any trouble.

This would be a great if it was open to international guest's.

I'm coming over the Easter Holidays  and as we are coming from the UK this service would be fantastic.

I'm aware that it would not be cheap but what is in WDW :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks

We always ship our purchases home,I select the 10 to 14 day ups option
this usually runs me 15.00 my jan 05 package arrived within 8 days.I try to do the majority of shopping at World Of Disney the additional 10% AP discount, and no tax really help.

I always shipp all my stuff at a Mail Boxes Ect.. type place on the way to the airport. There is one near the gate by Downtown disney, past the shopping center with the TGI Fridays on your right. There is a strip mall with a drug store and a Steak N Shake. I always stop on my way to the airport and have the stuff shipped UPS ground, takes about 3 days and costs me about $20.00. It has saved me numerous times from dragging all my loot on the plane. My stuff always makes it to my house safe and sound. I like this way better so all my stuff is in one box and I only pay one shipping fee.

THE BEST THING EVER!!!! I ship all the time. They usually tell you your packages may take up to 2 weeks to get to you. I have always received packages within the first 2-4 days I am home!

Like everyone else has said...just tell the CM at the register that you would like to ship your purchases home. YOu will fill out a slip...you won't be charged tax & you packages will be home right after you. I also have never received anything broken or damaged. I am a SHOP-A-HOLIC (or so my DH says)! And I send a lot of breakables home...ornaments, frames, snow globes etc. This is one of the BEST things EVER!!! :cheer2: :flower:

SO ship it all home!
Have fun!

Absolutely ship it home! It is well worth it, and a lot of fun to get a package from WDW a week or so after the trip! Also, I have found it to be very cost effective for me to "eye" what I want to buy and see if any other store has it. The store that has most, if not all, of what I want shipped home wins! It saves me from paying for a box at each store to be shipped home. I find this extremely helpful at MK. You can find many of the Market Street store items at The Emporium right across Main Street! It saved me from sending some things home from Market Street and another box from The Emporium. And, if you have enough room in the suitcase, voila! You can pack the little things there! Works for me!

I actually bring a little bit bigger suitcase than what I need for those extra gifts to bring back home. :earsgirl:

Just remember what AlwaysAPrincess said - you will need to fill out the form each time you do this. You may just want to do it once or twice at an all-purpose store like World of Disney, or your resort store. It would get tedious for you (and the people behind you in line! LOL!) if you shipped every little thing home.

Very True Harambe about shipping every little thing home. Then it isn't as cost effective either. I do ALL of my shopping in DTD. I actually had a bag with some things for scrapbooking & I didn't want to ship the little amount I had. Then I went over to the Disney Home Store & bought a few things & I asked the CM if I could include my bag from the other store in this shipment. It was NO PROBLEM.,...the only thing the CM reminded me of is that she couldn't take the tax off of the previous purchase. Which was fine with me! :teeth: I didn't have to carry the bag on the plane!

A great way to shop is the WOrld of Disney Store...it is like a one stop shop & a ship home
