We are once again going to fly to beautiful California and spend 11 days at the Grand California Hotel next february. I can already buy an 8 day hopper here in Canada, but I am wondering if I can add extra days to that? Our holiday is already at + $5000 and the likelihood that we would make two visits in one year is unlikely so AP's are out.

Even if you wouldn't be coming back in the year, an AP might make more sense cost-wise.

How much is an 8 day park hopper? I would think buying an AP would be the bargain. Remember the discounts you will also get with the AP for food, hotel rates and merchandise. :tink:

I was under the impression that prices for additional dates got exponentially smaller as more days were added to the passport.

When we were at WDW last, adding a 6th or a 7th day was just an additional $5 per day, I think.... I'm probably wrong on amounts though. These weren't for park hoppers.

An 8 day ph will cost me $252 Canadian, taxes included. I would have to buy premium passes in order to be able to go every day with no blackouts.....I think...I know very little about AP's.
I know the Aussie's can get 14 day passes which would be nice as we fly in early and fly out late....instead of sitting around all day.

Do you have flight centre in Canada? (Sorry If this is an obvious yes, im not all that good with travel agents!) We were able to get 14day hoppers from them for just over $300NZD it was only $4 more than a 7 day hopper, they may well offer this for other countries outside the US? Have a great trip!

Hi, Susie! I am in a similar position, flying in from Canada this fall for a good, long trip. Your 8-day price is close to ours (ours being a touch more in our Flight Centre quote, I think, given that the two kids' tickets should be a bit less). The big difference between your trip and mine is that you are staying at DLR property for hotel. The AP might be good for you if you are not already getting a decent deal on the GCH, because the AP discount could add up to a lot for such a long stay. Add in any merchandise and food purchases, and the savings really make a difference.
Having said that, I don't see why you couldn't add more days when you first get there for $5 per person, per day.
For our trip, we might have one person (me) buy an AP to get food and merch discounts, but stick with PHs for everyone else.
Would love to hear others' experiences.

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/deluxe/blockout-dates/ Calendar of 2012 blackouts, which might clue you in for Feb 2013. If they don't affect your plans, an AP is $380 instead of the Deluxe at $500.

I would buy the deluxe AP if I was paying rack rate but I am renting DVC points for this trip so I would really have to crunch numbers to see if the difference of $130.00 would actually save me any money. However,I did spend about $700 on souveniers last time :scared1:so that would be $70 right there. :thumbsup2

If you buy an eight or seven day ticket and then up grade after all the weekend black out days went by, it maybe a better buy, especially if you could save $100 or $200 a night in hotel room fees. When we used to buy our APs because we would go back 11 1/2 months apart, we would use tiickets through all the black out days and then upgrade to the APs.

As long as you don't get blacked out on one of your visits, you could get an AP for whoever pays the dining and shopping bills, PHs for everyone else.

Currently there are no blackout days in January for Delux APs, and a blockout day ticket is $59.
