Has anyone had drug allergy testing done?

I have my first appt. with an allergist tomorrow. Just wondering what to expect. I need to know if I am allergic to Cefzil or Zithromax after developing a severe rash. Thanks!

I didn't even know they could test for that.

I am allergic to several medications, but I found out the hard way, by taking them and having a reaction.

My kids have had the skin scratch testing for allergies. I don't think they included any medications in the panel though. Do they do the same type of testing for drugs?

I see an allergist on a regular basis. I've had all sorts of allergy testing done. I can honestly say I've never heard of them being able to test for allergies to meds. I am allergic to sulfa-- I found out by taking it (which I had taken it many times before that).

I've had skin testing done multiple times-- but like I said I didn't know they could test for this. An allergist is usually used to pinpoint and define a treatment plan to help allergy sufferers. There really wouldn't be a treatment plan for this, other than to not take it.

Just out of curiosity they did say they'd do testing for allergies to anitbiotics?

Thanks. Yes, they can test for them, but it's not 100% foolproof apparently. I go tonight for the consultation.
