Has anyone had character incidents at a M&G?

Has anyone had character incidents at a meet-n-greet, like say, where you get in line to meet, say, Pooh Eeyore and Tigger, and then they have a break but there are different characters once the break is over?

I've had it happen to me in 2016 at Critter Country. So normally there are separate queues for the Pooh friends, but they were repainting some of the areas, so there was one queue. So we got in line to meet Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore. But then they go on break, and a CM informs us that they'll be back, but later says Piglet will be out, which we are fine with. Then when the break was over, only Rabbit had come out, and no Pooh or Tigger or Eeyore. Luckily, we stopped back by and met all 4 of them when they had fixed the queues.

Yep. I've been in line for characters and ended up meeting completely different ones. Luckily my daughter loves them all...

I have to admit, that wasn't quite what I thought you were asking about when you said "incidents" at the character M&Gs. In terms of characters changing after breaks, yes, I have that happen as well. It seems hit-or-miss, except at the locations where a specific character is meeting (e.g., Mickey's House is always Mickey, Star Wars Launch Bay always has Chewie or Darth depending on which line you get in, etc.). Otherwise, I think it can happen depending on who is ready to go out and meet the guests.

Happens to us at Pooh corner all the time. The other areas where switch-outs occur are usually a mystery anyway (like the princesses or fairies). I remember once, we were in the Anna/Elsa line and they told us that Anna had been in and out all day. We ended up meeting her, but my guess is that one room only had Elsa. The walk-around character lines are generally cut off, rather than switched-out.

Happened all the time last year at Halloween. Got in line to meet Capt Sparrow - met Hook, Peter, and Wendy instead (which was fine, but no Jack). I know it happened a few other times, but I was so happy to meet who I met, I don't really count it as an incident. I would hope the CMs would be more forthcoming as to who I would actually meet, but if that's all I'm complaining about, I'm pretty lucky all told.

It seems to happen quite often as the weather gets warmer. The poor CMs in those costumes cannot stay out for long periods, so they have to have frequent breaks for health and safety reasons. Rotating the characters at the M&Gs gives everyone a chance to have a break while giving the guests a chance to meet their favorites.

I have seen that happen, too. Sometimes the CMs working the lines know who is coming next. Sometimes, they don't know until the last minute.

I had a strange experience with Chip (or Dale, I can't remember which) yesterday where my kids were sitting in the DLH Lobby watching the TV and he came up behind them and stood there which was cute. I was watching from check in desk. But then when I went up and said "say goodbye to your friend kids", my daughter went to go give him a hug and he kind of backed up and just waved. I kind of laughed like it was a joke and she sort of tried again and he just waved. It was very awkward. Obviously the characters hug kids all the time so I didn't know why he refused to do so. It made her a bit sad and I had to make some excuse. Has anyone experienced that??

I wouldn't really call these "incidents," but yes, there have been times when I've been in line and the character leaves and another comes up. There is no guarantee when we get in line if that particular character will be the same one when it's our turn for the meet and greet. It can be a bummer when you're in the queue for a particular character. It happens more often where themed characters are changed out, like at Paradise Gardens.

I thought this as a thread about something else too. And on that note DH swears that Gepetto punched him. At Minnies breakfast in the park, he punched him in the arm "playfully" but really hard (and my husband isnt a wuss) it even bruised!
Now we joke whenever we see Gepetto that he is going to get him back.
