Has anyone had anything stolen from your resort room?

We have been going to Disneyworld since 1989 and we always lock up small electronics and cash in the safe. The past few years, we have been locking up our e readers and an envelope with xtra cash and as such never had a problem with theft. Also I make sure nothing is left out around the room. When the place had wired internet, and we brought our laptop, we used to leave it in its backpack on the floor of the closet and it was never tampered with.

No. Too many nights on property to count. We don't put anything in the safe or otherwise lock things up. I wouldn't say we leave things in the open either, we just sit them on top of the suit case and close the top, for example, not zipped. We do travel with several electronics. No one bothers it

Nothing has ever been stolen from me in my room. I even left the safe wide open by accident once with hundreds of dollars in cash sitting in it. The maid serviced the room but didn't touch a thing.

I once left my wedding ring/engagement ring in the nightstand drawer while we were at the parks. Made a panicked trip back from HS to the YC but they were where I had left them and housekeeping had already taken care of the room. In our approximately 10 trips in the last 5 years, we've never had a problem.

We've stayed on property 30+ times and have never had anything stolen. We do lock our valuables and extra cash in our room safe.

We did the same thing once at AKL, and the money was stolen. Both of us thought the other had locked the safe, so it was our own fault. Disney gave us a room credit equal to the loss. Never heard what happened with the investigation, but since they can tell who entered a room (even nearly fifteen years ago when this was) I'm assuming they caught the thief.

However, that was once out of hundreds of nights spent in hotels at Disney and elsewhere, and it was I'm sure a crime of opportunity caused by our forgetfulness. Actually lock valuables in the safe and you'll be fine.

I was just reading that someone had medication & other things stolen on several occasions at AKL. Has anyone else had this experience & if so, what was stolen & at which resort? TIA!
Someone several times? Or different people, one time each?

I have been fortunate and have not had any items stolen from my room. One year at the Poly my son's then gf accused mousekeeping of stealing her medication. We had to go through a huge hassle to replace it. The next day she 'found' it in her suitcase. She also then had a double supply of her pain meds.
So when I read about people who believe items were stolen by mousekeeping - I really look at the surrounding facts, was it lost and it's assumed by the party that mousekeeping must have taken it? Could someone in an extended family/friend group have sticky fingers?
When traveling it's very easy to misplace things, to become distracted, etc., thus I leave most valuables home, I keep what I must have that is valuable or hard to replace locked away and I am much more deliberate in my habits mentally checking that I've not forgotten/misplaced anything.

In 10 trips to Disney we have never had anything stolen. We leave out iPads out as they are charging, no one has ever bothered with them.

I used leave a 10$ bill out for mousekeeping, many times they would leave it. Now I make cute "thank you mouse keeping" envelopes so they know it's for them.

We leave our wallet In the safe and I never wear a lot of jewelry so I don't leave anything out. The only thing of value we leave out are our electronics which have never been touched.

I've spent hundreds of nights in hotels over a lifetime, in every major chain. Never had anything stolen, anywhere.

Me too. Across Europe, all over the US, Caribbean and Mexico and never a problem in 4-5 star resorts and metro hotels. I have 4-5 employees spending g every week in hotels and they never experienced a theft. (And they would tell me)

Common sense goes a long way, obviously. Also, housekeepers at a place like Disney are hopping, they don’t have time to riffle thru a guests room during daily serivce. Further, with the tracking and monitoring, any theif is going’s to be exposed quickly.

I’ll give Disney a compliment. We left behind two bags of souvenirs and several articles of clothing after our stay. It was shipped home to us in a nicely packaged box with a note.

It's never happened to me either but to reduce temptation I take my medication out the packaging so I only know what it is. That way they might get a handful of vitamin D, ibuprofen or they might get the sedative I need to get on a long-haul plane. In that case they'll probably be asleep before they make it down to the end of the corridor anyway...

Once in 2010 while staying at POFQ. I always lock money and valuables in safe. However, it was checkout day and we were going to do a DVC tour. We had bought about $75 worth of candy from the Magic Kingdom and I didn't want it to melt in the car during the tour. We left it in the room. We came back at about 10am and the candy was gone. The room had not been cleaned yet either. We went to the front desk and they could care less. They just quickly gave us a gift card for $75. I told them I didn't want a gift card, I wanted my candy back because we didn't have anymore days left on our package to go to the parks. There was no way I could replace it. They didn't even try checking with housekeeping. Other than that it was a great trip, but my wife refuses to stay at POFQ again.

Very disappointing to hear. Thank you for sharing!

Never have. I used to also leave my laptop on the table. Now I put it in the safe.

Many trips to Disney - many nights at POfQ, CBR, YC and several trips staying at our favorite AKL and nothing stolen. I do put my electronics away under my clothes but i don't lock them up. I don't use the drawers in the room. I hang my dress clothes and leave everything else in my bag. I don't like to spread out too much because I may leave something. (I do a room sweep when I leave but left a whole bag of souvenirs once and DH hurriedly got it just before ME arrived)

Stayed a few nights in Dallas at the Hilton and my Beats were stolen. Reported it and they said they would keep an eye out. More hassle than they were worth. I just won't stay at this particular hotel again.

Sometimes Mousekeeping doesn't take their daily gratuity-so we just leave it out with the next day's.
