Has anyone had anything stolen from your resort room?

I was just reading that someone had medication & other things stolen on several occasions at AKL. Has anyone else had this experience & if so, what was stolen & at which resort? TIA!

Yep. Along time ago (1998) at the Contemporary. Either a housekeeper or someone reached into the bathroom when the door was open during cleaning and grabbed a bag of medical supplies and medications. The manager could not have care less. Just be careful leaving things out in view. Anything valuable goes into the safe or locked luggage. Not trouble since that incident.

In 7 on-site stays I've never had anything stolen. That being said, we don't let anything laying around when we leave the room. All inexpensive electronics are put in drawers under the clothing or stored in a drawstring backpack that is then buried in the hamper (I know they can still get stolen from there, but at least it will require a little work.) The laptop, wallets, and jewelry are kept in the safe. Medications are stored in a small zippered pouch that is stored in a zippered overnight bag that is kept in the bathroom.

One time I accidentally left the safe open with my laptop, our wallets (with about $200 in cash between them) and my Dooney & Bourke bag inside. I realized it about an hour after we got to Epcot. I wanted to run back to the resort but my husband said that they had probably already been in our room to clean anyway so there was no point in running back. We got back to the room later that afternoon and nothing in the safe had been touched even though it was obvious that mousekeeping had been in the room while we were gone.

I have not had that experience in many trips. I conceal everything as best I can so it isn't as easy for something to disappear.

I can guarantee you though that something has been stolen from a room in every resort. No resort is immune to it so I wouldn't worry about information about any resort in particular.

We've been to Disney countless times and never had an issue. In recent years we've started being a bit more careful. Putting things away but we don't usually use the room safe.

A little off topic---my dad returned to his cabin on a Disney cruise we took once mid dinner because he needed a medication and walked in on an employee going through a suitcase. Nothing was actually stolen.

What happened when your Dad caught them (their response & also Disney's response)? TIA!

Nope, never in any of my stays anywhere in the world. If I'm staying somewhere with a safe I'll lock my cash and credit cards in there. If I'm travelling with my little laptop and it will fit, I'll stick that in there but otherwise it just goes in a drawer under dirty clothes. I don't have any medications worth stealing unless someone needs hormones and I don't travel with jewelry other than what I'm wearing and even that isn't something expensive. If the option of not having housekeeping come into the room is available, I'll take it but that's just because I put everything up every day anyway and don't really need my bed made up.

Nope. But then I put anything of value in the safe. I will never understand people who leave all of their electronics strewn around the room. I'm not that trusting.

In all my trips I have never had anything taken from the room. I don't bring anything of value. I left my thyroid medicine on the nightstand the entire 11 nights and it was never touched. But then again what would someone do with it?

I never have, anywhere. I put cash and gift cards in the safe. I keep my ID and credit card on me. The only personal property of value I take is my wedding set, and I wear those when I’m not in the room.

I’ve returned home after one trip to find 12 pills missing from each of my medication bottles. I’ve since learned to keep my medication locked in my luggage and not on the counter. My only consolation is that one of the many side effects of the autoimmune suppressants I’m one is the frequent need to go to the bathroom.

LOL!! We also have to keep my husband's immunosuppressants in the safe; I have a fear of them disappearing & his life depends on them. We had no problem keeping them in the safe at CBR in 2014, but since reading the other poster's experience of having meds taken from the safe, it has me worrying. I guess we should keep them on us at the parks, but that's a lot to lug around every day!

No. I know others have. Utilize the safe in the room if need be.

This was about 7 years ago. IIRC The employee made a couple of excuses and quickly left the room. My dad spoke to someone immediately about it but if he was told what the end result was I don't know. He didn't see the guy again but this was he last night I believe.

I’ve put an additional lock on my suitcase and have been locking them up that way. It’s honestly too much to put into those tiny safes. I haven’t had problems since but I still don’t get why anyone else would want them!
