Has anyone had a Mai Tai at the Polynesian?

Alright, in a few weeks I am headed back and hoping that the same bartender is there so I can work my way through the Beachbum Berry Grog Log (which the bartender keeps behind the bar if you ask)

Anyone have any recent experiences with a good Mai Tai or other Tiki Drink?

Skooch, how ya been? I still think the Lapu Lapu is the golden standard at the Tambu. They are really expensive though--about $12 a whack(though I think you can get for a little less without the pineapple shell). I see others have suggested the drinks are so strong they water them down with extra juice. I'd be more prone to spike 'em up a bit with a lil somethin' from an airplane bottle of rum.

Tell us about this beachbum berry concoction. Sounds interesting as long as it's not too sweet.

Favorite grog type drink of all time: Menehune Juice from Trader Vic's.

The Beachbum Berry Grog Log is a recipe book. Last time I was at Polynesian a few years back one of the veteran bartenders pulled it out so I could order stuff that was not on the "menu". I cannot wait to go back.

You have to get a Lapu Lapu in the pineapple, but make sure to bring a spork with you so you can scrape the insides of the pineapple.
