Just curious if anyone's lost anything at a resort/a park and gotten their items back.

We were at the Polynesian last friday at Kona for dinner and that was the last time I had my video camera. I remember videotaping the birthday creampuff that the server brought me. I think I left it on my chair at Kona or at the store on the upper floor.

I am so heartbroken. It was practically brand new, expensive, and had our vacation video on it... it was the first time my parents went to WDW with us and there was footage of my kids and them. I also stupidly left an SD card in the case with the camera that had video on it from other family things and our October WDW trip. :sad1:

We called every conceiveable lost and found at WDW and nothing's been turned in. I wish I was still there at WDW world.. I wish I would have realized it was missing before we left on Sunday.

Anyway... I was just wondering if its a lost cause, or if anyone has some nice cheery recovery stories to share with me on Christmas day. We are so bummed, no video of the kids on Christmas and no family videos from WDW and no new video camera. :(

When we went to WDW in Feb 2001, DH left his leather jacket in the closet at OKW. We didn't realize it was missing until we'd driven all the way to TN (en route to MI) and he started to get a little cold. When we got home, we called (I have no idea what number, sorry) and they took our information and an item description. They said that all lost items filter into a central lost and found so it could be a few days before it even makes it there. About a week later, we got a phone call saying that they have his jacket and where would we like it sent. We gave them our address and 3 days later it showed up, neatly packaged, from UPS...No charge!

Don't give up on it yet. It may take a while and I am sure that your camera is probably one of many that have been misplaced. Good Luck!:wizard:

We stayed at POP in Sept 08. My son brought his two favorite Webkinz to sleep with. After the third night we could not find them. As anyone who has stayed in a value the rooms are small and thing get messy while there. I told him when mommy had time to straighten up I am sure they would turn up. Well they didn't. I looked everywhere in that room and they were gone. We did not allow the kids to take them out of the room so I didn't know what happened to them. I got to thinking that maybe they got swept up with the towels and sheets when mousekeeping cleaned the room. I reported the lost item to the front desk and they looked in their lost and found but no WAebkinz. So they gave me a number to a main lost and found to call. I filled out a lost and found card at the resort also. We had to leave on a plane the next day without our Webkinz. My DS was sad. But a few days after we were home I got a call from Disney saying the found them in the laundry. The towels and sheets are not washed at the resorts, they go to a large laundry somewhere on property. Within a few days of the call we got our Webkinz back and they were cleaner than when they went to Disney. So even if you lose something always report it and they will do their best to find it for you. My son was thrilled he got his Webkinz back. I told him they weren't ready to leave Mickey just yet so they decided to stay an extra week.:yay:

In 2005, we lost our camera case. This was back when we were using 35 mm film, and I had our used film in the case, meaning we lost all of our pictures. We went to the lost & found center near the TTC, and our camera case with the film was there! :goodvibes I am grateful to the person who gave our camera case to a cast member.

Well I did lose my cell phone at the Animal Kingdom within the first couple of minutes of opening. I noticed it missing within 5 minutes and retraced all my steps but couldn't find it. I stopped by Guest Services to see if anyone had returned it and they had not. They told me to come back at the end of the day to check again. We did and they had it! I was happy to know that there were honest people around. Good Luck! I'm hoping that your camera is returned to you soon just the way it was.

Hi,
I hope that I can cheer you up.

On our first trip (seven yrs. ago) as a family we lost our camera and called lost and found with a description and about a week later we found it. Four yrs. ago my son lost a backpack somewhere between the BWI's luggage area and the airport but the backpack never turned up but the Disney staff really searched and searched for it. (I think that it was left in the transport services van and that the driver either threw it out or kept it and the gameboy inside).

Finally, a story from last May:

My husband left his brand new video camera in the hands of our children as he headed home on his motorcycle. Since we had some time until our plane the kids and I went to Epcot for some lunch and last minute shopping. All of a sudden my seven yo started crying and said that he left the video camera in the mens room at the front of the park so we ran back but the boys said that the camera was gone and they couldn't understand the bathroom attendant. We said a quick prayer and headed to Lost and Found. They had it. I was so relieved I told my husband all about it when he called a few minutes later.
Then after we get to France my kids start freaking out again - They left the same camera in the Biergarten in Germany. I start seriously freaking out because I have already confessed to my husband about the first lost and found event and here we go losing it again. (Perhaps you saw me in the news: Mother of Four Children Loses Mind at Epcot - just kidding!) My older sons run back to the restaurant and check for the camera even though I think that it is a lost cause and find the camera under the chair where my son sat.

After that trip I would say that you have a good shot.

Good luck,

Regina

DH left our camera on the back of the chair at Mama Melrose - realized it about an hour later and called. We left the next day and the camera arrived about a week later in the mail.

On another trip my dd's lovie was scooped up with the sheets, found the next day and returned to our room.

Good luck -

TJ

Nope, in August of 07, DD then 8 years old, took off her pins, they were hanging on her neck, hot and heavy...had to be about 40 pins or so on it. We were in sci fi and she had just traded with a CM. We had our lunch and left, within one minute we returned, checked under our table, asked at the front desk.. we went to the front desk and the lost and found. DD was in tears, nearing a major meltdown. NOpe, our pins were never returned... now, we just bring with us 6 pins per day fro trading...

Several years ago, we stayed at Vero and DD hung a dream catcher from our beds. We didn't even realize it was missing until it arrived in the mail with a lovely note.

This past summer same DD hung a couple dress shirts in the front closet and realized she forgot them as soon as we got home. We called lost and found and they had not found anything. A couple days later, lost & found called and said they found the shirts. They mailed them to us with no hassles.

We thought we had lost a gameboy on a DCL cruise (DS this time) but it turned up after we unloaded and put things away.

I hope your camera turns up. Nothing can replace those images. We lost my DM last July and really appreciate having all the videos and pictures we have.

Never fear!

There are still great, and honorable people still around in this world... who do indeed look out for people other than themselves. - I read all the time on these boards on how they have had lost items returned to them. It's not that rare, actually.

Keep hoping, and cross your fingers.. hope you get your stuff returned!

On our first trip in '02 my daughter lost her brand new pink princess bucket hat on our last day-didn't know it until we had left the park. Called the central lost and found, left name and addresss. Called again in a couple of days-nothing and about a 2 weeks later in the mail-the hat. How nice for my DD!!
Good luck!!!

lost my camera on the monorail. called lost and found. they had it and mailed it to me!:thumbsup2

Yes, DBF lost my camera and i called lost and found and it was there, I was so relieved because it was the day before we were leaving and if i didnt find it i would not have had any pictures to remember the trip

Yes. DS (8) left his beloved stuffed animal at the BWVs in June 08. I called and it was back at our house in 3 days. Gotta love the Disney magic.!!:cool1:

A few years ago on New Years Eve my family and I were visiting the Boardwalk and later on in the day we realized my Mom left her preception sunglasses in the bathroom of their lobby. When she went back to look they were not there and then we went to the lobby concierge desk and asked if someone turned them in. We were told that had not happened, but they suggested to file a report which we did. However someone must have stold them because she never got them back. The thing we never understood about that is what could the person who stold them do with preception sunglasses, since they could not wear them like a regular pair you buy in a store.

I wish we'd been as lucky as so many others with the Lost and Found.

February 2006 DH left our digital camera in the pouch in front of his seat on Dinosaur at AK. He didn't realize it was gone for at least an hour or so. He rushed back over to see if it had been picked up by a CM but the CM he spoke to was extremely rude and pretty much told him "tough noogies". We were soooo upset because the pics that were on the camera from that morning were of DH and DS's on their guided fishing excursion and they had some fantastic fishy pics. After a little debating what to do next my cousin's wife who was with us ((who had in the past experienced problems with a CM @ Disneyland in California so kinda knew what to do)) piped up and said "We need an area manager!". The next CM we ran smack into was none other than a quartet of Dream Squad members. I was in tears and asked them how I could find the area manager for Dinoland USA. Of course, Dream Squad members being the outstanding guest services people that they are, they were concerned, asked the entire story, and sprang into action. Within minutes DH was speaking to the head honcho of the Dinosaur attraction. In the meantine the other Dream Squad members were entertaining the boys and me and listening to us all chatter on about our adventures. A quick check of the control areas of the attraction and our camera was not there. Big Boss person also was very interested in who the crappy CM was, too. Then we were sent to Guest Relations at the front of the park. Not there. At the end of the day after the park closed we returned to Guest Relations. No camera. We were given the number to Central Lost & Found. We gave a super-detailed description of the camera down to scratches, marks, pics taken, etc. We checked back with them in person or by phone at least 2 or 3 times a day for the rest of our trip. We also continued to call daily for 3 weeks after we got home. Our camera and our pics were never seen again.

In the end, all I wanted were the pics. Whoever needed a camera that badly could've had the stinkin' thing (and it WAS stinky because it had been fishing with the guys and they touched it with their fishy hands). I just wanted the pics. Those were what the real value was in the camera for us.

On the flip-side, December 2007 we had dinner at LeCellier. We were walking into the gates of DHS over an hour later and realized we didn't have our brand new camcorder. DH got mad because he thought DS#1 lost it. I quickly turned on my digital still, reviewed pics, and saw where DH had it in his hand only moments before we walked into dinner. DH apologized because he realized he was the one who didn't pick it up after the meal. He sprinted back to LeCellier and our nice waitress had found it and set it aside. She said she was supposed to turn it in but she was sure we would come back for it. She also said that because we were on the dining plan and all she was able to find out what resort we were in and fully intended to return it to our resort for us if we had not come back because we were so nice to her she wanted to return the sentiment. It pays to be good to your waitresses/waiters and tip well. LOL!

awww thanks everyone, you have me tearing up and possibly now hopeful. All day I was so sad, I just could not get it off my mind. I am hoping that the server did just that if he found it and sent it off to our resort or to central lost and found... I really am praying that it gets returned.

What is so ironic is that throughout the entire meal my young son kept leaving his new Jack Sparrow sword on the floor on the outer side of the table and at least 4 families walked by and said oh! there is a sword on the floor don't forget it, or don't forget the sword here on the floor, and even someone picked it up and handed it to us and said I don't want you to forget this!

Now I am just hoping some nice person saw my camcorder and did the same.
Thanks for the cheering up! it helped give me a glimmer of hope.

About 2 weeks after getting home from Pop, we get a postcard in the mail saying to call this #-something was left in our room. :confused3 We didn't know what it was that we could have possibly left behind so my DH called (it was addressed to him)

The very nice CM asked him if he was missing his 2 swim trunks and many pairs of underwear (clean BTW-I did our laundry the day before we left!)

DH was stunned and went to his drawer to investigate. HMMMMM......he WAS missing the items in question. :lmao:
The very nice CM told DH she would put the items in that days mail and we received a rather large package a few days later. We offered to pay for the shipping of the items but she declined.

Looks like DH forgot to check the drawers the day we left.

I lost my diamond out of my engagement ring out side of POC 2 years ago this Easter... we looked and looked, but no luck. Several MK employes were very helpfull... and one of them called the area manager(?) and he said it could turn up, as WDW has found sevral dozen loose diamonds a year.. and they are rarely claimed... Mine never did, wish they woudl have just sent me one! :rotfl: I did go to guest services and they told me the same thing, only that it is hard to claim a diamond with out the setting, how to prove it is yours? I do have the registration for the lost diamond with the pattern of light it throws, but still... oh, well, got a bigger one set in the ring! :goodvibes And I did get a call from Guest service latter the day I reported the lost stone, one of the CM saw me crying and he went out and got me a MM ring with cz's in it! It was not a cheap or really expensive ring, but still $20+ from a CM is a lot of money. His superviser said he did spend his own money on it and he was impressed also. You bet I asked for a coment card and let WDW know how that CM had turned my day from bad to good and thanks to his kindness!

And at The Disneyland Hotel in May 03 we checked out and by the time we reached the car I remembered that I had left the camera hanging in the closet in the camera bag... not more then 15 after we had left the room. Never did get that back! Housekeeping had allready been in and said they couldn't find it... but I remember seeing it and thinking the DH or DS would get it when they got their coats... sigh... just wanted the photos on it, and something to take pics of our DD grad from USC...

On the other hand, we have turned in several cameras, hats, coats, bags and so on the last couple trips. It is kinda fun to know that you are a secert helper and can make sure someones trip is not ruined!
