Has anyone gone to graduate school after age 30?

Thinking of getting a Masters in Corporate and Organizational Communications. I think I will audit a class first, see if I like it.

I have, and it was both good and bad. Good b/c I was prepared for the work load, but bad b/c I had a life and was working full time. It was hard to take it seriously.

I was 29 when I started and 31 when I graduated.

I was in a Part-Time program that required a certain number of years of Professional Experience. Most of the students were in their late 20's to 40's.

School is different when you are older. Things just seem to be slightly less dramatic when there are so many other important things in your life.

I got my MA and my MPM both after 30-one while i was a SAHM and one while working-I found I was far more focused and motivated to study and get good grades than earlier in my Academic career. Also my mom went back and got her RD (register dietician) after age 50-and graduated at the top of her class-so go for it!!!!

Similar to Toby's Friend, I started my MBA at 29 and will be 31 when I finish it. I didn't want to start my MBA until I had at least a couple years of business experience -- I find it's more relevant now than it would have been if I was 23 or 24.

I went back for my Master's in Education when I was 32 (almost missed my first final because my son got chicken pox, and my babysitter hadn't had them!). It took 2 1/2 years of night school, I was so much more successful at school as an adult than I had been at 18-21 yo. I've also taught adults in college night school (undergraduate though). I strongly support adults going back to school.

I teach several medical students who are in their 30s. After finishing 4 years of medical school, they face an additional 4-6 years of advanced training .......

I kind of did college backwards. I stayed at home to do my BA, starting when I was 24. Then, when I was 29, I went away to University to do my Master's. I found myself living in a dorm and turning 30! I did a one-year, research based Master's starting in late Sept and finishing in late June. Toughest year of my life!

I completed a 64 credit Masters' at 31 and DH was 41 when he completed his.
Learning is forever in one form or another.....

I started my Masters when I was 29 and finished when I was 30. I quit work, moved from MA to FL and became a full time student again. I lived off my Graduate assistanship and student loans. But by doing so, I was able to finish the program and a year and a half. I never regretted the decision.

I started grad school when I was exactly 30, and will graduate next May, when I am 33. Most students in my classes fall in the age range of late twenties to probably mid-fifties. Only a few 22-25 year olds. It's nice going to school as an adult and being with other adults - the classroom atmosphere is so different from undergrad classes.
