I was watching on the travel channel about parasailing near Grand Floridian (??). How was your experience? Is the price worth it? My husband has been wanting to do that and his birthday is a week after we leave Disney World and I was going to surprise him with an early birthday gift.

I have not been but my teenage son and his girlfriend went on our last trip in July 2004. They went tandem and said it was one of the best things they've ever done. The cost was $149 for the two of them and they went out on the boat with 2 other couples. They had a blast and said it was definitely worth doing (of course they were spending my money though, LOL!).

I did it during an October 2003 trip. Very cool. It's very quiet up there. You can see Epcot and MGM. I didn't notice the Tree of Life but it might be visible. Of course, you can see MK's mountain ranges.

If you have an AP there's a (I think) 20% discount.

If you want to get your feet dipped in the water they'll do it, but otherwise it's completely dry.

Do it.

I noticed someone doing this yesterday while on the monorail. The monorail driver told me it was $90 for a person to do this, but added he wasn't too sure of the price. It looked fun. I'd never seen this before or even heard of it at the theme parks. And today there is a thread on it. Strange.

If he does it let me know how it is.

My older 2 kids want to do it and they aren't heavy enough to do it by themselves...so guess who gets to go tandem with them!!! ME!!! Which will mean 2 flights right in a row for me. :scared1:

Since my DH is afraid of heights his answer when I said "would you rather me go or you" was "I would rather change a diaper than do that" was very telling (he physically gets sick at changing diapers!).

We are on the Premium plan so it's included. I think it's $149/tandem. You can check out the Sammy Duvall website www.sammyduvall.com (I think that's the link - if not do a search). I know when I sent a message asking if it was allowed to do the 2 tandems in a row, it was fine and I think it was 90 days out for reservations.

I just have to say that this thread inspired me to do a WDW list of things to do in the future & break it down for me & DH & adult GF & when we go as family w/ DS18 & DD 16. They would love this! Not sure I can handle it! That's why I love this board---ideas, ideas, ideas! Hope if you do it for DH , he loves it!! Deb

I surprised my DD9 with this for her birthday. She wasn't heavy enough so I got to go too :teeth: It was soooo awesome.... You do not get wet that is unless you are 9 years old and yell to the driver to "dip me, dip me" "hello can I please remind you that I am attached to you" Too late. :rotfl: :rotfl:

We took want to go parasailing will in Disney world.
I have been parasailing before, it always quite expensive ;)

My dh wanted to do it too. And he did, I had the 3 ds go with him, I was just too afraid to see it, so I stayed in the room. They videotaped it, he paid the premium price or whatever they call it, they let you go up higher I think. Oldest ds did it by himself and the 12 and 14 yo did a tandem. They were not too thrilled and said it gave them a super wedgie!! This time I think the crew was in a big hurry. They are very safety concious though. My dh also didnt like the way the crew just rushed us last time, so he refused to give them a tip, the other time they got a very good tip. The last time I did go to see them do it. Its definetely a magical memory. Hope your dh has a great time.

DW gave me a trip for my birthday present during our last trip to WDW!

The Sammy Duvall crew were great!

It is very quiet indeed, but a little unnerving:eek:

You are sitting in a THIN Harness!!! :rolleyes1

With a VERY LITTLE metal Carbine thing holding you up

I loved watching the patterns on the lakes surface as the breeze kissed the water!! The Contemporary looks very nice from up there. MK is awesome 2

NOTE: I bought a waterproof disposable camera and took it up with me and got some very nice shots!!

DH and I have gone parasailing twice and enjoyed it. It was included in our plan, otherwise we wouldn't have spent the $ for it - it's $$$!! We had to go separately; the first time the look on DH's face when he went up was priceless - I made him go first;) We went in Jan. one time and had to reschedule 3 times - if it's below 50, it's a no-go. We got to keep our shoes on that time and dind't get wet. This past Nov. we did get wet - just our feet though. I found it to be very relaxing, once you get over the fact that it's an itty-bitty little cord that could snap at any moment - j/k;)

The whole family did this several years ago. It was a great deal of fun. You go off the back of the boat and so you do not get wet at all (except for the spray).
