Has anyone gone on a 'quickie' WDW trip?

I did a 2 day trip for my birthday this past November and loved it. My wife and kids were great in being so understanding. Flew down on Tuesday morning, did the Christmas Party Tuesday night, Epcot and DHS on Wednesday (free entrance on my birthday), toured some resorts on Thursday and was back home in time for dinner on Thursday. Got a seat sale price of $89 (+ taxes) each way, car rental for $20/day and Pop for $65/night so it ended up being a really cheap trip.

And it really did a lot to quell the Disney yearning between trips with the family.

We did a quickie trip last November, 2 nights at Gainsville for a Florida Gator football game and 2 nights at BCV. Since flying out of Detroit is so cheap, it is now affordable to do these quick jaunts. Thing is though, that we only spent 7 hours total in the two days that we were at the parks. Relaxing by Stormalong Bat was a prioroty.

I've done a few "quickie" trips meaning 3 nights or so. This is often very difficult to pull off because of the cost of the flights, however (depending on where you live) you can often find some great deals on flights. For example, I live in Toronto and with only an hour drive or so I can fly out of Buffalo. The cost difference is HUGE and allows me to do this. If this is possible for you (to fly out of Buffalo) i suggest checking the airline prices on JetBlue and Southwest airline. They usually offer VERY good deals (sometimes one way flights for $49 USD a PERSON!!!!)

Check it out....I find these quickie trips to be SO much fun,,,,sometimes I do them so unexpectedly that I get calls on my cell phone from friends asking to go out and I inform them that im in disney world HEE HEE

I have done several weekend trips to WDW but as most people have said, dependent on getting cheap airfare. We fly out of Buffalo so it is just over a 2 hour flight to MCO..to go somewhere like Vegas for a few days is too much travel time for me. My last trip was just DH and I and we didn't even go to a park. We got a good deal at the Dolphin and we spent our days poolside and went to DTD and the Boardwalk in the evenings and watched fireworks from the Poly beach...still felt so Disney!

So true! I think the value of a quickie trip would depend on what you're trying to get out of it (and how tired you're willing to be when you get back). For me, the shorter the trip, the LESS time I'd like to spend at Disney, and the more time relaxing poolside.

I'd love Vegas too - but with a young daughter, Orlando is definitely the easier option.

I don't have a car, so the only way I would be able to get to Buffalo is by greyhound and then a cab to the airport, and that seems pretty pricey for me.

I hear a lot of people fly out of Buffalo if they're from Southern Ontario. If you drive your own car or rent a car for that drive, is it really worth it for the cheaper plane flights? Including the cost of getting there and getting back?

It is absolutely worth it....I have had fares from BUF for as low as $135 US roundtrip and that includes all the taxes....the most I have paid is $185. The BUF parking is less than $50 for a week and you can walk to the airport from the parking lot. From my house the gas roundtrip to BUF is about $30...depending on gas prices. For one person flying alone....is it worth it?...not really, unless you live closer to BUF than YYZ. For a family it is absolutely worth it. Not to mention the easy of use at BUF compared to YYZ.

wow Dancin, thanks for all of that info! Especially about the pricing

I've already booked my flight for YYZ, but now I'll definitely consider BUF for our next trip down.

I am in Disney withdrawl here!
My trip isn't until November but I want to go NOW! I was thinking on flying down for a couple days....Thurs - Sun/Mon. Just enough time to get my fix!

Has anyone ever gone to DIS for just a couple of days?

well we did it...booked a last minute "quickie". DW and I leave Jan 20 and return Jan 24, POR (1st time w/o the kids).:lovestruc
