Has anyone flown Airtran and can offer opinions?

When we went to Disney in 2002 we flew SWA which offered a good price but no assigned seats which caused a bit of stress and aggravation. Airtran's website says no assignment til airport check-in but that would be better than SWA's mad dash to find seating together for five. Anyone have firsthand experience?

Thanks.

You can go online 24 hours prior to check-in and pick your seats and print your boarding pass.

Because you can only pick your seats 24 hours in advance and may not have access to the internet while on vacation its easy to have a family member do this for you for your trip home. Just ask them to pick your seats and get your tickets at the airport when you check in.

We flew on Airtran during Easter break last year. Even though it was a busy time we had a great trip. We did the online checkin for our trip to FL, but we took a voluntary bump on our return flight, so I think the ticket agent assigned us to seats for our return trip. One more day to enjoy sunny FL, we stayed at a hotel near Fort Lauderdale water taxi, had fun and it was all on Airtran. The hotel was nothing special, but ok. Now have to book another trip soon, as passes will expire April 04.:D

I fly Airtran on a regular basis from Orlando to Philly. Cost is great, crew can be so funny sometimes. And the crew has always been so personable to everyone. I also like that when I go to check in I can upgrade to Business class for 35 bucks. I have always been able to upgrade. And even by doing this I am still paying less than I would be in coach on anoter major airlines.

If I am flying anywhere Airtran is the first airlines I will check with.

We flew Airtran for the first time in December and loved it! Their prices were the lowest we found, and they were one of the few airlines that had direct flights to Orlando from Dayton. PLUS, they got us there early and brought us home late -- two things I look for on flights to and from WDW.

We picked our seats online 24 hours in advance and used curbside check-in. Once we got through security, we went straight to the gate and just relaxed till take-off. Since I took my laptop with me, we were able to go online 24 hours prior to coming home and pick our seats, again. When they took our luggage at curbside, they printed out our tickets for us, and once again, we went straight to the gate to relax.

Great trip!! I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

294 days and counting . . . again!

As others said, AirTran is definitely much better than they were two or three years ago.

The 24 hour ahead online seat assignment works.

There is a BIG difference in Airtran from 2 or 3 years ago! I have a co worker who works for them so I fly them often. In the past they were very iffy, I've had to wait up to 8 hours for cancelled flights... not fun! My last experience in May was MUCH better, though. I used the online check in and it was a breeze. On the way back I had my laptop at the Portofino Bay Hotel and they allowed me to print it for a dollar. It was nice to pick where you want to sit!

We flew Airtrans this year. The internet kiosks around Disney work fine for reserving seats. We used the one at Old Key West. It took us 8 minutes and cost $2.00 ($0.25 a minute $1 minimum) for three tickets. It took us a little bit longer because the left mouse button didn't work and needed to use the touch screen and keyboard for all inputs. We would fly them again.

OMG! I have not even heard of Air Tran. I just found the perfect flights out of and into Dayton! The times are AWESOME and the price is $906 for our family of 4! Dayton airport is about an hour from our house so that is great, too.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!
