Has anyone flown across the country before?

Have a good trip!!

We have flown to Europe with a toddler and it was fine, she was almost 3 when we flew. We took the DVD player which was a god send!! One other thing that made a huge difference was that we brought her car seat. She snuggled into the seat and actually slept most of the flights. We brought her favorite blanket and doll and just tucked her in. Which was nice, especially on the 9 hour flight from Copenhagen to Chicago.

Just to jump in on the diaper issue. I don't fly a lot but I've probably been on about 30-40 planes and I have never seen a diaper changing table or area on any of them.

For everyone that said how awful/unsanitary it is:
2) You are not aware that aircraft do not always come with changing tables. Have you personally tried to change a baby in an aircraft that didn't have them? How do you know what I am aware of?

3) You do not realize that it is against regulations for passengers to be in the flight attendant areas of the plane for any duration of time.I did NOT say anything about changing them in the flight attendant area.

5) You are asking a parent to put their baby on the floor of an aircraft lavatory to change their diaper. Or on the floor next to the bathroom, where men pee on it during turbulence? (I was a corporate weekly business traveller once. Talk to me about what I've seen in airplane bathrooms....)And where did I ask a parent to do that??????

7) You've never been on a flight where a woman got out a bottle of nail polish or highly scented hand lotion! Much worse than a diaper with urine in it that goes immediately into the afore mentioned scented bag! What does this have to do with being sanitary?

Why is it that germaphobia has replaced the assumption that many people do posess common sense?
No need to be so nasty about it.

No need to be so nasty about it.

I apologize if you felt I was being nasty - there were several posts against the option I suggested. My mistake was not clipping all of them.

It was definitely not my intention to offend you personally. It was, however, my intention to address all of the comments and prove a point - that the comments about what is considered sanitary have 2 sides that might not have been considered.

When people make "comments" the way you presented yours and others presented theirs, it makes the reader feel that you are telling the poster that are not carefully practicing good habits and that they were giving the OP disdainful advice. Though it's not intentioned, it really does insult the poster.

Personally, I have never had a complaint from other passengers about changing a diaper on a plane. If done discreetly, fellow passengers don't even know it's happened.
