Has anyone flew with Norwegian Air recently

We're due to fly from Gatwick to Orlando via Oslo and was wondering if anyone else has flew this route recently and your opinions of the planes for each leg of the journey.

What was the entertainment like.

I haven't. I saw that they were flying to Florida and thought it would be worth looking at when buying flights for our next trip. But, the other day on twitter I saw that one of their flights had been delayed by days... I guess it is due to them not having a huge fleet and if on plane has to be taken out of action it causes problems.

Their prices look great, and lets face it.. an extra two days in WDW would be a terrible thing put up with.

I know this comment doesn't help you but we flew with them to Gran Canaria and it was fine. Better than EasyJet type flights but not as good as BA.

Personally I don't know if I would want to fly long haul with them, there is something nice about flying with Virgin and knowing everything is already included and I can always ask for another drink etc.

DH flew to Norway with them this year and said they where really good. He enjoyed their free wi-fi. I also read that they are hoping to expand there trans atlantic routes, hopefully they will give the big guns a run for their money and force the prices down a bit!

I help a lot of people with their planning and I have now looked into Norwegian flights for 10 families and only once has Norwegian actually come out cheaper when you factor in other expenses that are attached with their Gatwick to Ft Lauderdale route.

I don't know anything about going via Oslo, perhaps they have more aircraft there and problems don't occur so often, but the direct route has been plagued with problems. If they have any technical problems with their dreamliner, chaos ensues. You've probably read about the situation last weekend where people were delayed over 2 days!

There are better options in my opinion.

First up...This is "Norwegian" and not "Norwegian Cruise Line".
These two have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

The Fact :
They started this "Try-Out" to MCO in May 2014.
Remember,this is a "low cost" carrier.
That mean that unless you pay,you will not get any food/drinks or checked in baggage on this 12 hr flight (10hr return).

The Good :
Brand New Boing 787 Dreamliner w all the standard perks...like a bunch of movies/3Dmap etc.
The prices are rely good (sept 2014,about 170-200$ one way...that is osl-mco direct.i dont know the price from U.K)
We (i) are Norwegians,so we have an overall good quality and service. This is not Ryan Air
And yes...more planes are comming,and Norwegian Airlines are the largest plane buyer in the world,from Boing,in 2013.

The Prob :
Norwegian ONLY have 2 (TWO) long range airplanes.(2x787).
These are switch on routes to Asia and US.
If 1 have a mechanical issue (OMG,there have been LOTS of that for them),then they have no replacement aircraft,and you are "stuck" where you are until your plane comes.

Looks like the Norwegian Air Police are out again. For us it was a much cheaper option, the cost of the overnight hotel in Fort Lauderdale is balanced out by the fact that we dont need an overnight in Gatwick. Think some people are just bitter they didn't find the deal first.

Note that Norwegian Air-Shuttle now files to MCO direct from Oslo.
And it usually a bit cheaper. I follow the MCO prices on a regular basis.
On my upcoming Sept 2014 trip, the price Flying Norwegian Direct from Oslo-MCO-Oslo,would have cost me about 635USD (inc all tax/fees/1 bag/and food).
I choose SAS/United (ewr switch) for 685USD instead.(inc all tax/fees/1 bag/and food).
Basically because the "SAS/United" gives me about 9500 ffliers miles.
We are 2 traveling and the SAS are an airbus 330-300 configured 2-4-2, so only we can sit together.
The Dreamliner 787 have that terrible 3-3-3 configuration.
And going home,we have to stay all day at MCO,plane leaving around 10PM.
The United/SAS leaves MCO 2PM. Perfect hotel check out 11AM and goto MCO timing.

Hi all


We flew with Norwegian to ft lauderdale from gatwick last week.
. We found the flight to be very good in general , the 787 was great and had the best in flight entertainment system I have used in that it was quick ,responsive and worked for the full flight unlike a number of other airlines systems-movie choice could have been more up to date- watched hobbit2 and frozen.
Food was the same standard as previous airlines we have used- no better and no worse.
Timings worked out ,leaving an hour Late but arriving 10 mins early.
Overall would use again happily if price and timing were right.
