Has anyone flew Allegiant?

We found a great deal on Allegiant Air for our upcoming trip. This will be our first time flying since our honeymoon 4 years ago, which was on Delta. How is it? I know you get 1 personal bag and 1 carry-on. Does a backpack count as a personal item for a man? Also, is it easy to find the disney magical express counter at MCO? We are really excited since Allegiant is now flying into MCO instead of Sanford, plus it is only an hour and a half flight vs a 10 hour drive. Thanks for any input.

I don't know if this will help, but I flew Allegiant to Las Vegas a few years back. I found the main difference is you have to pay for EVERYTHING in flight. No free pop or nothing. You can bring your own aboard, if you buy it after you pass security. It's no frills, but we left on time and actually had a great flight out... back we hit a really bad thunderstorm, and therefore had to fly a bit out of our way, but I can't blame Allegiant for that. My Aunt prefers it to go there now (her son lives just outside LV). Usually, you can't beat the prices. I was looking into for the family's trip this August, but we have to leave out of Peoria, and I found a direct flight on Airtran from my home airport for about the same.
All in all, I would recommend it from my past experience. :thumbsup2

We will be flying with them this fall. Have down booked just waiting on return flight. We have never flown with them but my nephews fly with them 4x's a year to and from mom and dads house. I am usually the one that picks them up on this end and we have never had a problem with them.

You can take a carry on and a backpack ( 2nd item must fit under the seat in front of you). No frills, so take snacks/drinks on the plane with you. We never pay for priority seating or seat selection and for 4 of us we will only check 1 or 2 bags at the most. We stay for 12 nights so like to take big bottles of shampoo and things that we just don't like or can't carry on.

The best advice if you can is make sure you go to the airport to book your flights. They accept reservations 1 hour after a flight has just left the airport. This will take $15 off a booking fee they charge if you book online per person. This is not off the fare rate but off the taxes/fees added to the base fare price. For us this is $60 each way for 4 of us.

Also, since pretty much everybody checks in at the airport to get their boarding passes to not pay for seat selection expect to stand in line so get their early. I always try to get there 1 1/2 hours before flight take off and we have a very small airport. You might want to go more first time to see the pattern in your airport. The only downside is with Disney, we will have to put our luggage on the ME bus and check in at the airport. I do dread that one but don't see it a problem, much better that driving 12 hours home.

Hope this helps
